CLAIM TO FAME: Stephanie is probably most noted for her role in the TV Show 'Remington Steele.'

FAMILY LIFE: Never married, Stephanie is dating director Peter Medaka who is twenty almost 20 years older.

Her father is Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., her grandfather Efrem Zimbalist the violinist and her grandmother, Alma Gluck the opera singer. Her late aunt, Marcia Davenport, was an author. Her mother is Stephanie Spaulding Zimbalist.

INFO: Some of Zimbalist's early television and movie appearances include Forever, The Triangle Factory Fire Scandal, The Long Journey Back (TV 1978), The Awakening (with Charlton Heston), Tomorrow's Child (TV 1982) and The Golden Moment, in which she played a Soviet Olympic gymnast. She co-starred with her father, Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., in the tragic 1979 TV movie The Best Place to Be.

She played female sleuth Laura Holt in the NBC series Remington Steele opposite Pierce Brosnan and Doris Roberts (1982-1987).

TRIVIA: Studied music and acting at Juilliard.

Was originally cast as Anne Lewis in RoboCop, but had to give up part to Nancy Allen when called back to resume filming episodes of 'Remington Steele'.

Is a vegetarian.

Won the Robby Award for Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Lizzy Curry in "The Rainmaker." The awards, which were presented at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are given every year to honor distinguished achievement in theater. [February 2001]

Co-starred alongside father Efrem Zimbalist Jr. in 'The Best Place to Be' (1979).

Her aunt, Marcia Davenport, was the best-selling author of "Valley of Decision" and "East Side, West Side," both of which were made into films. She also wrote the definitive biography of Mozart, which has never been out of print.

Is an honorary member of the Stuntwomen's Association.

Studied classical singing for six years

WHERE IS SHE NOW: Since Remington Steele, Zimbalist has taken leading roles in several television movies such as the Emmy-award winning Caroline? (1990) and some guest roles in television series such as Touched by an Angel.

Zimbalist has also found success onstage. She played opposite Tommy Tune in the touring musical My One and Only. Throughout the 2000s, she appeared in several plays on 19th-century artists including Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Van Gogh. This past April and May, she appeared at the Laguna Playhouse in Steel Magnolias.
