BIRTH DATE: April 23, 1970, Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada

CLAIM TO FAME: He is known for his roles as "Newt Call" on the Lonesome Dove series in Canada and as "Ned Grayson" on the American television drama series, Party of Five.

FAMILY LIFE: Bairstow was married to Marty Rich from 1994 to 2000, and has two sons, Casey (1995) and Dalton (1998).

INFO: At the age of 10, Bairstow made his first television appearance on a show called Let's Go. When he was 17, he moved to New York City and won a part on the soap opera All My Children as Stuart Chandler in flashback scenes to the character's youth.

He has appeared opposite well-known actors such as Cybill Shepherd in the television movie There Was a Little Boy (1993), Kevin Costner in The Postman (1997) and Kris Kristofferson in Two for Texas (1998).

Aside from his well-known roles on Party of Five and the Lonesome Dove series, Bairstow also played Lt. Tom Hobbes in Chris Carter's series Harsh Realm, and guest-starred on the two-part series finale of Touched by an Angel, playing a handyman named Zach, and later in the episode, God.

TRIVIA: His parents - Douglas and Diane - both played with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.

While appearing on The Rosie O'Donnell Show (1996) with the rest of the Party of Five (1994) cast, was forced to write "I will not hit Julia" on a blackboard for the duration of the show as punishment for his character's abusive tendencies.

WHERE IS HE NOW: Bairstow was charged in May 2003 with second degree child rape for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and later asking her to keep quiet about it. That December, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge-second degree assault. He was sentenced to four months in jail, one year community supervision, and was required to undergo a sexual deviancy evaluation.
