BIRTH DATE: December 3, 1955, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

CLAIM TO FAME: She is best known for playing Dale Arden in the 1980 adaptation of Flash Gordon.

INFO: Anderson first appeared in the 1977 series Logan's Run and as a "sweathog" in an episode of Welcome Back, Kotter. Some of her guest appearances on television include Archie Bunker's Place, Battlestar Galactica, Dallas, T. J. Hooker, the pilot episode of The A-Team, and The Fall Guy. She had roles on St. Elsewhere, Jake and the Fatman, Manimal, and All My Children in the 1990s. She played the title role in the made-for-television movie called Policewoman Centerfold in 1983, and starred in the 1986 made-for-television movie Beverly Hills Madam. Her film roles include playing Dale Arden in the cult classic Flash Gordon and the female lead in Dead and Buried.

TRIVIA: Appeared in the first 1977 Victoria's Secret catalog.

Holds an Honors Bachelor Degree in Journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and Masters of Social Work from New York Univerity's Shirley Ehrenkrantz School.

WHERE IS SHE NOW: Anderson's last acting role was in 1995. She attended New York University, graduated in 1997, and developed the "Family & Friends Program" and "Intensive Out-Patient Program (IOP)" at Hazelden New York.

Currently, she works as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in her private practices in Manhattan and west Los Angeles. She facilitates therapy groups at several treatment centers in the LA area, and is working on a book for parents with kids who use drugs and alcohol.

She has continued her education with post-graduate studies in family training at the Ackerman Family and Training Institute in New York and certification in trauma treatment as a Level II-EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) specialist.

Anderson lectures internationally and is a media spokes-person on addictions and the family. She has given presentations about substance abuse and other mental health-related areas of study. You can learn more about her counseling career at this website: counselingbymelody.com

Anderson has made appearances at genre conventions, such as the October 2009 Big Apple Convention in Manhattan.

As of 2017, Anderson has become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California and New York.
