CLAIM TO FAME: He is best known as the star of the ABC sitcom Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and as one of the various
hosts of the syndicated series It's Showtime at the Apollo.

FAMILY LIFE: No info found.

INFO: Curry worked at a drugstore after quitting college where he regularly practiced his comedy act on customers. He was encouraged by his customers, family and friends to try his stand-up routine at area comedy clubs. He made his debut in Oakland and became the city's most sought-after stand-up comic.

His first role was in the film Talkin' Dirty After Dark, alongside Martin Lawrence in 1991. His first major television role was on the series Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, where he played the lead role of Mark Cooper, an NBA player-turned-substitute teacher/gym coach.

TRIVIA: Was born in Oakland, California as the youngest child out of nine.

Attended St. Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, California and California State University, East Bay in Hayward, CA.

Was featured in Too Short's music video "I Ain't Trippin'"

Appeared in the 2002 song Oakland Raiders by Oakland rap group Luniz.

WHERE IS HE NOW: From 2012-14, Curry starred in Nick At Nite's first-ever original live-action family comedy series, See Dad Run as Scott Baio's best friend Marcus.

In 2014, he joined Sommore's Standing Ovation Comedy Tour along with Bill Bellamy, Tommy Davidson, and others. Also in 2014 he starred in the Bounce TV sitcom One Love.

In 2006, Curry was burned on over 20% of his body when he was doing laundry and an aerosol can that had fallen behind the water heater exploded. It took him months to recuperate and he was put in a three-day medically induced coma. He considered suicide but decided against it with the help of friends and fellow comedians, such as Sinbad and Billy Cosby.
