JIMMY HAWKINS

BIRTH DATE: November 13, 1941, Los Angeles, California


CLAIM TO FAME: Hawkins has had many memorable roles during
his impressive career as an actor. Some of these include
playing the son, Tommy Bailey, in It's A Wonderful Life,
and portraying Annie's brother Tagg on The Annie Oakley TV
series.


FAMILY LIFE: Hawkins is married to actress and author Lara
Parker, and they have a daughter, Caitlin Elizabeth Hawkins
(born 1985). Hawkins is also stepfather to Lara's two sons
from a previous marriage.


INFO: Hawkins has the distinction of working with some of
Hollywood's biggest names of the 1940s, including Spencer
Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, Greer Garson, and Lana Turner.
His legendary career in show business began at the age of
four when he played Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart's son,
Tommy Bailey, in the film classic It's A Wonderful Life.

From there, he spent eight seasons on The Donna Reed Show
(1958-1966), worked as a regular on The Charlie Ruggles
Show (1949-1952), portrayed Tagg Oakley on The Annie Oakley
series (1953-1958), and appeared on four seasons of The
Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet.

Other credits include Petticoat Junction, Ichabod and Me,
Leave It to Beaver, Dennis The Menace, Gidget, My Three
Sons, Hitchcock Presents, Red Skelton, and Lux Video
Theatre.

Hawkins later established himself as a movie producer, and
worked on productions like Evel Knievel, The Satchel Paige
Story and Disney's Love Leads The Way. He also created the
Emmy Award winning television special The 50th Anniversary
Motown Returns to the Apollo.

TRIVIA: Graduated from Notre Dame High School in Sherman
Oaks, Los Angeles.

Was voted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences in 1961.

Developed a lifelong admiration for actress Donna Reed.

Was close with It's A Wonderful Life star Jimmy Stewart.


WHERE IS HE NOW: Hawkins has written five popular-selling
books on It's A Wonderful Life, and recently produced the
PBS Television special all-star radio version of the film.

He serves on the Board of Directors of The Jimmy Stewart
Museum and has served on the Board of Directors of the
Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts.

These days, Hawkins concentrates mainly on his construction
business. He designed and built his family home in the
Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles.
