BIRTH DATE: June 29, 1969, New York City, New York
CLAIM TO FAME: He is best known for playing the role of
Wyatt in the movie Weird Science (1985).
FAMILY LIFE: He married his wife Susannah Demaree in 1995.
They have a daughter, Eloise, and a son, Asher.
INFO: Smith began his career at the School of American
Ballet. While studying ballet, he was discovered and chosen
for the role of young Timothy Hutton in the Sidney Lumet
film Daniel.
After a starring role in 1984's The Wild Life, he was cast
as Wyatt Donnelly in the 1985 teen classic Weird Science by
writer/director John Hughes.
Other starring roles followed in the film The Chocolate War
and the TV series Superboy, and he also made some guest
television appearances, but none of these brought him much
success.
He retired from acting in 1991 after a final guest appear-
ance on the TV crime drama Silk Stalkings.

Moved to Texas in 1998.
His mother is a psychotherapist based in Hawaii, his father
is an art history professor in Massachusetts, and his sister,
Natania, is an artist living in England.
Taught English classes at Texas A&M as a graduate assistant.
WHERE IS HE NOW: Mitchell-Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Medieval Studies from UC Davis, a Master of Arts
degree from Fordham University, and received his Ph.D. from
Texas A&M University. He was an Assistant Professor of
English at Angelo State University in Texas. Currently, he
is Assistant Professor of English at California State
University in Long Beach.
