CLAIM TO FAME: He is best known for his role on the TV series Married... with Children as Griff, the co-worker and friend of Al Bundy at the shoe store.

FAMILY LIFE: He has been married to Kathleen since 1970. They have two children.

INFO: Aside from Married...with Children, Sylvester has also appeared in the TV series Walking Tall, Today's F.B.I., Mary, and Shaky Ground. He also had a recurring role on the TV series City of Angels.

His well known film roles are An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), Uncommon Valor (1983), Innerspace (1987), Corrina, Corrina (1994), and Missing Brendan (2003).

Sylvester has guest starred on the TV shows Hill Street Blues, Murder, She Wrote and NYPD Blue.

TRIVIA: Is a graduate of New Orleans' St. Augustine High School.

Attended Tulane University on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 1972 with a degree in theater and psychology.

Was the first African American ever to receive an athletic scholarship from Tulane.

Son, also named Harold, played basketball for the U.C.L.A. Bruins from 1995-1997.

Inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall Of Fame in 1995.

WHERE IS HE NOW: Sylvester recently completed work on the 2014 film A Place for Heroes. In 2013, he appeared as John Davenport on two episodes of the TV series How Men Become Dogs. He has also appeared on the TV series The Other Door and in the 2011 comedy Night Club.
