BIRTH DATE: January 8, 1982, New York City, New York
CLAIM TO FAME: She is well-known as the little girl in
the 1989 film Field of Dreams.
FAMILY LIFE: She was raised by her single mother, former
cult actress, Viva.
INFO: Hoffmann started acting in commercials at the age of
four as a means to pay family bills. A few years later, she
starred in the movie, Field of Dreams, with Kevin Costner.
More projects followed, including parts in 1989?s Uncle Buck,
This Is My Life (1992), Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and The
Man Without a Face (1993).
In 1994, she starred in her own sitcom Someone Like Me,
where she played Gaby, a girl with a dysfunctional family.
The show only lasted six episodes, but Hoffman soon moved
on to star in the TV film Freaky Friday (1995), a remake of
the 1976 film of the same name. That year, she also starred
in the CBS TV film Whose Daughter Is She?, and played the
role of Samantha in the film Now and Then.
She continued acting in various films until she entered
Bard College in New York to pursue a degree in literature.
She took a break from acting to focus on her studies, and
graduated in 2003.
Following graduation, she concentrated on theater roles in
New York, including 24 Hour Plays (as Denise at the American
Airlines Theatre), The Sugar Syndrome (Williamstown Theatre
Festival - July/August 2005), and Third (Mitzi E. Newhouse
Theatre/Lincoln Centre Theatre - September-December 2005).

TRIVIA: Her mom, Viva, appeared in many of Andy Warhol's
movies during the 1960s.
Her last name is her mother's maiden name.
Her birth is documented in Brigid Berlin's The Andy Warhol
Diaries.
Lived with her mother in the well-known Chelsea Hotel in
New York City until 1993.
Half-sister of actress Alexandra Auder.
Best friends with actress Christina Ricci.
Is of Irish and German descent.
WHERE IS SHE NOW: Hoffmann's had a few sporadic roles over
the past few years, including a starring role in the 2007
film Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America. In 2008,
she appeared in the documentaries Guest of Cindy Sherman,
and Chelsea on the Rocks, a tribute to the Chelsea Hotel
where she grew up. In 2009, Hoffmann had a supporting role
in Todd Solondz's Life During Wartime, and the thriller 13
with Mickey Rourke and Ray Liotta (released in 2010).
