BIRTH DATE: December 23, 1936, Waxahachie, Texas

CLAIM TO FAME: He is known for his portrayal of Huston Dyer in the 1979 musical drama The Rose and "Chef" in the epic war classic Apocalypse Now.

FAMILY LIFE: He was married to Marilu Henner from 1980-1983. Their marriage ended in divorce. His second marriage was to Nancy Ann Whittaker from 1960-1963. They are also divorced.

INFO: Forrest began his acting career with an uncredited role in a 1967 episode of the soap opera Dark Shadows.

Some of his major film credits include Apocalypse Now, When The Legends Die, It Lives Again, Falling Down, and The Rose. He had a role as the notorious Mexican/Indian bandit Blue Duck in the 1989 miniseries, Lonesome Dove.

In 1987, he played Captain Richard Jenko on the first season of the Fox Television series 21 Jump Street. He also played Sgt. McSpadden in the Civil War-themed movie Andersonville and real-life U.S. Army General Earle Wheeler in 2002's Path to War.

TRIVIA: Played mystery novelist Dashiell Hammett twice; first as the lead in Hammett (1982), then as a supporting role in Citizen Cohn (1992).

Has a collection of James Dean memorabilia and 200+ hats.

Was Academy Award-nominated in the Supporting Actor category for his role in The Rose.

WHERE IS HE NOW: Forrest is now in his 70s and retired from acting. His last acting role was in the 2006 film All the King's Men as Willie's father.
