Greetings music fans:

Don't be alarmed that today's great music clip will bring you to a Youtube page, I know they usually take you over to EVTV1. But I've been dying to share this clip for a while now it is a fantastic blend of classic sounds and new-indie energy. The song is "When In Rome" by the self-proclaimed Progressive-Acoustic band, Nickel Creek. I know today's subject line and song title may invoke your favorite quote from Will Ferrel's "Anchorman", but it is merely a coincidence, and my apologies for not featuring the soothing voice of Ron Burgundy.

Now, I'm a sucker for just about any rock song with good mandolin (REM's "Losing My Religion" is another favorite). This song has haunting notes of bluegrass without becoming too country-fried hokey or stale. The melody is definitely more of a contemporary vibe. I'm sorry to say the band has since disbanded, and are no longer performing together, but the mandolin player/lyricist, Chris Thile can be found on many other recordings lending his supreme mandolin mastery to other great tunes.

Until next time,
-Khalil
