What to Wear to a Christmas Office Party

A Christmas office party is a time to relax and unwind with
your coworkers. After a hard year of work, your employer
wants to reward you. Don't slap your employer in the face by
wearing inappropriate attire to the Christmas office party.
Here are some tips on what to wear (and not to wear) to a
Christmas office party.

Low Necklines and Short Skirts

Low necklines and short skirts have their place in holiday
attire, but that place is not a Christmas office party.
Alcohol, cleavage, and legs typically don't mix well.
Wearing such attire can make other employees form opinions
of you that just aren't true.

Business Casual

If your Christmas office party is business casual, you are
in luck. Chances are you have plenty in your wardrobe already
and won't have to purchase a new outfit for your Christmas
office party. Women should wear khaki pants and a sweater, or
a blouse with a skirt. Men should wear khaki pants, corduroy
pants, or dress slacks with a polo shirt and sport coat.

Formal

Formal Christmas parties are a lot of fun, especially when
there is an open bar. Women should shop for a formal dress
towards the end of fall, when homecoming dresses will be
marked down. Black, red, and gold are all great colors to
consider for a formal Christmas office party. Women can also
wear a black suit with a sparkly shirt underneath for a formal
pop that can be worn all year long.

Men can either rent a tuxedo or wear a really nice suit to a
formal Christmas party. Chances are if you work somewhere that
has a formal Christmas office party, you will wear these items

throughout the year anyways. Make sure you shoes are shined
and that you aren't wearing white socks to complete the look.

Casual

Casual, family friendly Christmas office parties are my
personal favorite. Everyone can wear whatever makes them

comfortable, although you should still remain presentable.
Consider dressing your entire family in a matching outfit for
a pulled together look. The outfit doesn't have to be
elaborate - everyone can wear something simple such as a
black top with a nice pair of dark jeans.

Tips & Warnings:

- When dressing simply, add an interesting piece of jewelry
to make a statement.

- Avoid clothing that's too tight or revealing; it's a party,
but they're still your co-workers.
