Was Zack Snyder's seemingly endless opus 'Watchmen' not enough for you? Well, prepare yourself for at acclaimed graphic novel to become a series for HBO!

HBO is eyeing screenwriter Damon Lindelof to develop a television series based on famed graphic novel, Watchmen.

Lindelof is in early discussions to head the project, which is in the early stage of development, notes The Hollywood Reporter.

A fan of the 1986 comic by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, Lindelof has stated previously that Watchmen continues to influence his work. "From the flashbacks to the nonlinear storytelling to the deeply flawed heroes, these are all elements that I try to put into everything I write," he told Comic Book Resources in 2009.

The series is HBO's second attempt at developing show based on the DC Comics property that features characters such as Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre and Rorschach investigating the murder of one of their own before uncovering a dark conspiracy.

Watchmen was previously adapted into a feature film by director Zack Snyder in 2009. The movie grossed $185 million worldwide.

Lindelof is best known for his work on Lost, Prometheus, Star Trek Into Darkness and HBO series The Leftovers which concluded in June.

Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller depart Han Solo standalone movie
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are no longer directing the untitled Han Solo film, however the Star Wars spinoff remains scheduled for a May 2018 release.

"Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it's become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we've decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon," Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said Tuesday.

"Unfortunately, our vision and process weren't aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences,' but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew," Lord and Miller said in a joint statement.

The movie is an origins story for the iconic smuggler Harrison Ford played in four Star Wars blockbusters. Alden Ehrenreich will play the younger version of the character. The new movie will co-star Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Lord and Miller are known for their hits Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie.


Daniel Day-Lewis' publicist says Oscar winner is retiring from acting
Three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis is retiring from acting.

The film star's publicist, Leslee Dart, released a statement announcing the news Tuesday.

"Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor," Dart said. "He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject."

His final film, an untitled drama directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, is set for release in theaters on Dec. 25.

Day-Lewis, 60, won his Oscars for his work in the films Lincoln, There Will Be Blood and My Left Foot.

His other credits include Nine, Gangs of New York, Age of Innocence, My Beautiful Laundrette, A Room With a View, The Last of the Mohicans, In the Name of the Father and The Crucible.

CBS renews 'The Young and the Restless' for three more years
CBS announced Tuesday it has renewed its entire daytime schedule for the 2017-18 television season.

The deal includes a three-year order for The Young and the Restless and two-year renewal of The Price is Right.

Let's Make a Deal, The Talk and The Bold and the Beautiful will return for additional seasons, as well.

"CBS Daytime has never been stronger. From 30 consecutive years of being No. 1 in the ratings, to another year as the most honored network at the Daytime Emmys, our lineup of talk, game shows and dramas connects with our audience like no one else," Angelica McDaniel, executive vice president of daytime programs and syndicated program development for CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Distribution, said in a statement. "All of our talent, on screen and behind the scenes, is hard at work making the upcoming season of these award-winning series even bigger and bolder."


Tony Bennett to receive Gershwin Prize for Popular Song
Tony Bennett will receive the prestigious Gershwin Prize for Popular Song in 2017.

The Library of Congress will honor the 90-year-old singer at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., in November for his lifetime contributions to popular song, Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden announced in a press release Tuesday.

"Tony Bennett is one of the most accomplished and beloved artists of our time," she lauded. "His staying power is a testament to the enduring appeal of the Great American Songbook the Gershwins helped write, and his ability to collaborate with new generations of music icons has been a gift to music lovers of all ages."

Bennett joins the ranks of previous Gershwin Prize winners Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder and Carole King. The award recognizes artists who promote popular song as "a vehicle of cultural understanding; entertaining and informing audiences; and inspiring new generations."

"I am thrilled to be receiving The Gershwin Prize this year - it is an absolute honor for me!" Bennett tweeted.

Bennett is a 19-time Grammy winner who received Kennedy Center Honors in 2005. He released his debut studio album, Because of You, in 1952, and last released The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern in 2015. His album with Lady Gaga, Cheek to Cheek, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 the year previous.

The CW is planning a spinoff of what hit show?

The CW is developing a spinoff to their long-running series Supernatural titled Wayward Sisters.

The spinoff, which will be introduced in a future episode of the drama's upcoming thirteenth season, will feature series star Kim Rhodes reprising her role as Sheriff Jody Mills, Variety reported.

Rhodes will be seen training and protecting a group of young orphaned women who were affected by a supernatural tragedy and can turn into their own spirit-fighting force. Other characters from the original series might also appear.

Supernatural showrunners Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer are executive producing the project with Phil Sgriccia and Robert Berens. Dabb and Berens are writing the script.

Supernatural, now entering Season 13 this fall, is The CW's current longest running series. In March 2016, series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki discussed a possible ending to the show, noting that their characters Sam and Dean Winchester should go out in a "blaze of glory."

"The boys can't stop fighting. As long as they're alive, they're not going to stop fighting. We're going to have to see them continue to do good together. I think that's what's the most important part," Padalecki said.
