TRIVIA TODAY - Wednesday, August 25, 2010
Greetings Infomaniacs,
Can you believe that I never learned how to play poker until
this past weekend? My boyfriend Andy and I were together
with some friends, and they wanted to play, so I figured it
was time to learn. I received a crash course in poker rules
and gameplay, and then we played a few practice rounds so I
could get the hang of it. It was fun, but I think I'm going
to need to play a few more times, and practice my poker face!
Enjoy!

RANDOM TIDBITS
It is commonly believed that the 4 suits in a deck of
playing cards -- spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs,
derive from French decks of cards. In French decks, the
suits represent the four classes: Spades represent nobility,
hearts stand for the clergy, diamonds represent merchants,
and clubs are peasants.
***
The standard deck of cards had a fifth suit added to it in
1937 but was eventually discarded since not enough people
were willing to buy whole new decks.
***
