TRIVIA TODAY - Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Greetings Infomaniacs,

Now that I am done with school, I have been spending a lot more time at the gym. I thought I was in pretty good shape until last night when we had a sub for the interval training class I do every week. Not just a sub, but the toughest trainer at the gym.

He not only devises the most torturous exercise drills, but he will also yell throughout most of it and call out anyone who stops moving. I spent the entire hour wanting to cry and run out the door, but I made it through and now I almost want to do it again....almost!

Enjoy!
Melissa

TODAY'S MYSTERY QUOTE

QUOTE: "Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally."

HINT: (1939-), English journalist, comedian, writer, media personality and daytime TV game show host.

RANDOM TIDBITS

Comic Jerry Van Dyke had two sitcom offers on the table in 1965 but sadly chose the wrong character. He felt that being the son of a porter in My Mother, the Car was preferable to playing the bumbling first mate on Gilligan's Island.

Diminutive actor Mickey Rooney was first offered the role of Archie Bunker on TV's All in the Family. However, The Mick soundly refused the role, saying that the obnoxious bigot was "un-American" and that the job would prove to be career suicide for anyone who took it.

Steven Spielberg and George Lucas wanted Tom Selleck for the role of Indiana Jones, but Selleck had already committed to the TV series Magnum, P.I., and the producers wouldn't give him the necessary time off.

The role of tough girl Rizzo in the 1978 film Grease was originally offered to Lucie Arnaz, with the proviso that she took a screen test first. However, mama Lucille Ball declared that testing was beneath her famous offspring, so the part went to Stockard Channing.

Chevy Chase rejected the lead role of Lester Burnham in the American Beauty script because he didn't "get it," plus he feared such a role would tarnish his "family friendly" image. Kevin Spacey won an Oscar for his portrayal of the character.

Henry Fonda played the patriarch in the film Spencer's Mountain, which served as the pilot for the TV series The Waltons. He was offered the role of Pa Walton, but after reading several scripts, he surmised that the star of the show was John-Boy, not the dad, and turned it down.

*** Weekly Mind-Scrambler ***

Sometimes I am loved,
Usually by the young.
Other times I am dreaded,
Mostly by the old ones.
I am hard to remember,
Also hard to forget.
And yet if you do,
You'll make someone upset.
I occur every day
Everyone has to face me.
Even if you don't want it
To happen; embrace me.
What am I?
