TRIVIA TODAY - Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Greetings Infomaniacs,
Easter Sunday is just a few days away. I can't wait to
color eggs with my godson on Saturday, and enjoy Easter
dinner with my family on Sunday. I also can't wait to
indulge in some Easter candy on Sunday morning. I can hear
some PEEPs and chocolate eggs calling my name!
Enjoy!

RANDOM TIDBITS
The exchange and consumptions of treats for Easter goes
back hundreds of years, mainly believed to have begun with
the tradition of Hot Cross Buns. Hot Cross Buns became the
traditional breakfast of Good Friday and became a Christian
tradition as well.
***
In the old days pretzels were associated with Easter
because the twists of the pretzel were thought to resemble
arms crossing in prayer.
***
The first chocolate eggs were made in Germany in the 19th
century and remain one of the most popular Easter candies

Because of their egg-like shape, jelly beans became
associated with the Easter Bunny and became a part of
Easter tradition. Sixteen billion jelly beans are made
specifically for Easter which is enough to fill a plastic
egg the size of a 9-story building.
***
In 1953, it took 27 hours to create one PEEPS marshmallow
chick. Today, thanks to advances in technology, it takes
six minutes.
***
The symbol of the egg, which was already being used in
Easter festivities at this time, had been a pagan symbol
representing fertility and re-birth in pagan times. It had
been adopted as part of the Christian Easter festival and
it came to represent the ?resurrection? or re-birth of
Christ after the crucifixion and some believe it is a
symbol of the the stone blocking the Sepulcher being
?rolled? away.
