TRIVIA TODAY - Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Greetings Infomaniacs,

Well folks, I only have about 72 hours left in my 20s. As I am about to turn the big 3-0, I have been looking back over the past decade and all that happened during those years. It's fun to look back at pictures of my friends and I and see how we have grown over the years. We have definitely made some great memories together! Although it's hard to believe I am going to be 30, I have heard that these are some of the best years! With that thought in mind, bring on the 30s!

Enjoy!
Melissa

TODAY'S MYSTERY QUOTE

QUOTE: "You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you."

HINT: (1849-1925), American novelist and short story writer who wrote the novel A Kentucky Cardinal.

RANDOM TIDBITS

U.S. textile mills presently convert over half of the cotton they use into clothing.

The majority of cotton is used for men's and boys' clothing, with jeans, underwear, and shirts topping the list.

Cotton is a food crop. Almost 200 million gallons of cottonseed oil are used in food products such as margarine and salad dressing. Cottonseed and cottonseed meal are used in feed for livestock and poultry.

The Cotton Belt covers the southern half of the United
States, reaching from Virginia to California. Texas is the
top cotton-producing state, harvesting about one-third of
the crop each year.

One bale of cotton can produce 1,217 men's t-shirts or
313,600 one-hundred dollar ($100) bills.

If all of the cotton produced annually in the U.S. were
used to make one product, such as blue jeans, it would
make five billion pairs.

Screaming, soaring,
Seeking sky
Flowers of fire,
Flying high
Blue, green, red, gold
Gaze at me in the night
An amazing feat,
I give out light
Eastern art,
From ancient time.
Name me now,
And solve this rhyme.
