TRIVIA TODAY - Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Greetings Infomaniacs,

Did anyone watch the Golden Globe awards on Sunday? It's
always fun to see who wins, but my favorite part is checking
out the dresses. Some of the gowns are so beautiful, and
some are so awful you just wonder what were they thinking??

Enjoy!
Melissa

RANDOM TIDBITS

The first national telecasts of the Golden Globe awards
were during a special segment on ?The Andy Williams Show?
in 1964 and 1965.

***

The annual telecast is put on by the Hollywood Foreign
Press Association. Founded in October 1943 by eight foreign
journalists, the organization was originally called the
Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association. The associations
current president is Philip Berk.

***

Awards were handed out by journalists in the HFPA up until
1958, when Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr.
stormed the stage with whiskeys and cigarettes and took
over the show. Since then, stars have ruled the show.
