Greetings Thrifty Friends,

Car buying is stressful, especially with those high-pressure
salespeople! But you can make sure you get the best deal for
the car you want to buy if you keep a couple simple rules of
thumb in mind.

Keep pinchin' those pennies,

TODAY'S THRIFTY TIP:

If you're looking for a new (used) car, go near the end of
the month. Salesmen try to fill a certain quota before the
end of the month, and if they haven't filled it, they'll
make better deals.

Don't let car salesmen sucker you by quoting a low monthly
payment. You may be buying more car than you can afford by
letting the salesman stretch your loan out for six years!
Although the amount of the monthly payment is important,
always bargain from the standpoint of the final price, not
the monthly payment. And if you want to add an extended
warranty to your car loan that will drive up your monthly
payment, too!
