Greetings Thrifty Friends,

No doubt haggling can snag you a bargain, but what if you're
not a natural negotiator? No worries! Build your saving
skills by starting out at places where haggling is not only
expected but practically required!

Keep pinchin' those pennies,

TODAY'S THRIFTY TIP:

Flea Markets:

On the prowl for secondhand goods? If you're headed to a
flea market, wait for a slow time--usually about two
hours after opening. With fewer customers, sellers have
more time and a greater inclination to bargain. Start by
offering a price a little lower than what you'd like to
pay. By going first, the odds are good you'll end up with
a sweet bargain!

Mattress retailers:

Mattress stores constantly run sales, and that bargain
mentality means they're ready to deal. Your best bet; ask
what the lowest price the mattress has ever been sold at.
It could be more than half off the suggested price! Price
matching is impossible because stores stock slightly
different models, so make it work for you: tell the shop
you've seen similar options for a better price, and they'll
lower theirs!
