Greetings,

This is a great week for kids, no matter what age. First,
Shakespeare's classic tale of love and tragedy has been
adapted into a children's animated film that tells the
story on a miniature scale in 'Gnomeo and Juliet'. Also
releasing on DVD this week is the supernatural action flick
'I Am Number Four', which co-stars Timothy Olyphant.

'Gettysburg: Director's Cut' Blu-ray

Gettysburg is the 1993 epic that dramatizes the decisive
American Civil War battle fought in 1863 in Pennsylvania.
Martin Sheen, Tom Berenger and Jeff Daniels play major roles,
and Ted Turner and Ken Burns appear in cameos. The 2004
Blu-ray Disc version of Gettysburg is 4 hours 14 minutes
long, and the director's cut on Blu-ray adds 17 additional
minutes of footage. The Blu-ray edition carries over the
bonus materials from the 2004 Blu-ray Disc and adds "Ron
Maxwell's Invitation to Take the Journey Through Hallowed
Ground" plus a 48-page booklet with photos, maps, biographies,
timeline and production notes.


'Gnomeo and Juliet' DVD

This animated film is a riff on Shakespeare's Romeo and
Juliet where most of the characters are ceramic garden
gnomes. The setting is a pair of attached houses on Verona
Drive in present-day Stratford-Upon-Avon. In one house's
yard is Gnomeo (voice of James McAvoy), while in the other
is Juliet (voice of Emily Blunt), and there's a feud between
the lawn ornaments of the two houses. Juliet's cousin Tybalt
(voice of Jason Statham) causes trouble, and there's a huge
lawn mower called the Terrafirminator (voice of Hulk Hogan).
Patrick Stewart voices Shakespeare's statue.

'I Am Number Four' DVD

Based on the young adult novel by Pittacus Lore (a
pseudonym), this is a Michael Bay-produced action sci-fi
movie where the main characters are in high school in
Paradise, Ohio. The boy calling himself John Smith (hunky
Alex Pettyfer) is actually an alien from Lorien, one of only
nine survivors of their race who are hunted on Earth by other
aliens from Mogador. After killing three of the nine, the
Mogadorians go after John. Meanwhile, John becomes attracted
to a pretty girl (Glee's Dianna Agron), deals with a bully
and befriends a geek. This all leads to a battle royal with
lots of explosions.
