Discovery cancels reality show 'American Guns'

Discovery Channel says it has not renewed its reality show "American Guns" and won't air reruns from its past two seasons. The series wrapped its sophomore season Sept. 5. The ratings hit is about a family who runs a successful gun shop in Colorado. "'American Guns' concluded earlier this year," the network said in a statement. "Discovery Channel chose not to renew the series and has no plans to air repeats of the show." E! News said the network did not say whether the decision to cancel the show was directly connected to last week's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Performing on the third season finale were professional singers Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars and the Killers. Season 4 is to debut March 25.

Scorsese to direct Clinton documentary

Martin Scorsese has confirmed he is directing and producing a documentary about former U.S. President Bill Clinton for HBO. No title or premiere date for the film has been set, The New York Times reported. Scorsese described Clinton in a statement as "a towering figure who remains a major voice in world issues" and who "continues to shape the political dialogue both here and around the world." "Through intimate conversations, I hope to provide greater insight into this transcendent figure," Scorsese said. "I am pleased that legendary director Martin Scorsese and HBO have agreed to do this film. I look forward to sharing my perspective on my years as president, and my work in the years since, with HBO's audience," Clinton said. Scorsese previously worked with HBO on the documentaries "George Harrison: Living in the Material World" and "Public Speaking" about the author Fran Lebowitz. Clinton, 66, served as president from 1993 to 2001. His wife Hillary is secretary of state under President Barack Obama.

New Game Show Set - Hollywood Game Night

NBC says it has ordered "Hollywood Game Night," a new hour- ong game show series created by actor/producer Sean Hayes. The 8-episode show is based on the "Will & Grace" star and "Hot in Cleveland" producer's real-life "game nights," featuring A-list celebrities hanging out in a cocktail party atmosphere. "We are proud to be in business with Sean Hayes, who creatively brings so many good ideas such as this new game show romp that will be raucous and entertaining," Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming for NBC Entertainment, said in a statement Monday. "Our audience will feel as if they are part of the party as we pull back the curtain on how today's Hollywood stars play at home while our contestants can earn big money." NBC said the show will feature well-known people from the worlds of television, film, sports and politics, but no specific names were mentioned. The amounts of the cash prizes also were not mentioned.
