It seems like no matter how many time I apply sunscreen I still manage to burn. I know I'm not the only person out there that experiences this issue. So, I decided to take the time to see what I was doing wrong!

Step 1.
Choose sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, is water resistant, and provides broad spectrum coveragefrom UVA and UVB rays.

Step 2.
Apply sunscreen generously before going outdoors. Make sure to apply the sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you need it so that your skin has time to absorb it.

Step 3.
Make sure to apply enough sunscreen. Most adults need at least one ounce of sunscreen, about the amount you can hold in the palm of your hand, for full coverage of all the areas of your skin that can be exposed to the sun.

Step 4.
Apply the sunscreen to all the areas that will be exposed to the sun. This includes your face, neck, ears, tops of your feet and legs. Make sure to also apply to your scalp if you have thinning hair, or if you're a woman who will have a part exposed to the sun. Or, you can wear a wide-brimmed hat. To protect your lips, wear lip balm with at least SPF 15.

Step 5.
Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, after swimming, and after extremem sweating to stay protected.

One other thing to keep in mind, even if it's cloudy, or winter, you can still burn. Any time the sun is out, you're at risk of a sunburn. Even if you can't see the sun. When it is cloudy is when people don't think to wear sunscreen but it is actually just as important as when the sun is out.

**Side Note: In last week's issue, I had stated that you can use Preparation H for puffy eyes. Please don't follow that. Apparently the ingredients have changed in Preparation H and it is no longer safe to do that!**
