This week, 'Youth in Revolt' is available on DVD. Michael
Cera ('Superbad') again plays the role of nerdy, sarcastic
underdog (just like every other role he plays), although
the film throws the refreshing twist of him also playing
his character's egotistical, badass secondary personality
in this teenage romantic comedy. 'Youth in Revolt' is a
good renter.

'The Book of Eli' DVD

Denzel Washington stars in this post-apocalyptic action
film directed by the Hughes brothers. Thirty years ago some
catastrophe befell Earth that destroyed civilization's
infrastructure and left few survivors. Now Eli (Washington),

Bible, travels on foot through the western US, struggling to
find food and fighting off marauders. Eli arrives at a shabby
town run by the evil Carnegie (Gary Oldman), who wants to

'When in Rome' DVD

Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel are paired in this romantic
comedy. Beth (Bell), a curator at the Guggenheim Museum in
New York, visits Rome, where she wades into the (fictional)
Fountain of Love and picks up five coins. Legend has it that
whoever tossed those coins into the fountain will become
romantically attracted to her. She returns to New York and
is eventually pursued by five suitors, played by Jon Heder,
Will Arnett, Dax Shepard, Danny DeVito and Josh Duhamel.
Anjelica Huston portrays Beth's boss, Don Johnson plays her
dad and Alexis Dziena her sister.


'Youth in Revolt' DVD

Based on C.D. Payne's novel, this coming-of-age comedy stars
Michael Cera. In the film, Nick Twisp (Cera) is a brainy
16-year-old misfit who feels driven to get into a sexual
relationship. When he goes with his divorced mom (Jean Smart)
and her loser boyfriend to the Restless Axles trailer park,
Nick meets the good-looking and intellectual Sheeni (Portia
Doubleday), who loves all things French. To woo her, the
socially awkward Nick invents for himself an alter ego, the
sophisticated François, and begins acting on François' ad-
vice, leading to misadventures and even criminal misbehavior.
