Hello Everyone...

Driving in the car the other day, I heard The Doors pop onto the radio. As usual, I was drawn in by Jim Morrison's dance between deep, mysterious croon, and the harsh bite of maniacal fury. The song was Break on Through. I began focusing more on the music rather than vocals, and I really started to appreciate those sounds more and more. I had always loved the drumming on LA Woman and the distinctive 60's organ sound on most songs. One of the coolest and fullest soundscapes has to be The Alabama Song that has so much feeling in it. The chorus doesn't just sound like a type of music...it sounds like a fully-realized event or scene. Sure the lyrics definitely leave you wanting a little more creativity, and a little less creepiness, but it adds to the soundscape! Give it a try.

As this year comes to a close, my thanks to all the subscribers to Music History Video, and for those of you that write in once in a while, I really appreciate it. Hope everyone has a safe and happy new year's celebration, and I'll see everyone back in 2013!
