Here's the Scoop...

Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars! I know that 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is still 38 days away from being released to audiences, but that doesn't mean that I can't be as excited as Han Solo when he found out that Luke and Leia were actually brother and sister. Man, December 18th cannot get here fast enough! Oh, how I wish I could make the jump to lightspeed.

Well, until then, May the Force Be With You!

Be Well,
Steve

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' releases TV spot trailer
Star Wars: The Force Awakens released a TV spot trailer starring Daisy Ridley on Sunday.

The 23-year-old English actress again takes center stage as the scavenger Rey, with Lupita Nyong'o narrating as the pirate Maz Kanata.

The preview teases Rey's possible connection to Han Solo (Harrison Ford), whom some fans believe to be her father. The trailer cuts from Rey to Han as Maz says, "I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes."

Ridley starred in an international trailer released last week, and recently sat down with Carrie Fisher, who will reprise Princess Leia in the new movie, for an Interview magazine feature.

"You should fight for your outfit," Fisher, who famously wore a metal bikini in Return of the Jedi, advised the younger actress. "Don't be a slave like I was ... You keep fighting against that slave outfit."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is directed by Star Trek reboot helmer J.J. Abrams, and opens in theaters Dec. 18. John Boyega co-stars as the stormtrooper Finn, with Adam Driver as the villain Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as the X-wing pilot Poe Dameron.

Philadelphia mayor declares Nov. 25 Creed Day
Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter has proclaimed Nov. 25 Creed Day in honor of the release of the next installment in the Rocky Balboa boxing saga.

Nutter this week announced the news on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum where he stood alongside the movie's stars Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson, as well as writer/director Ryan Coogler and producer Irwin Winkler.

From Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, the movie reunites Coogler with his Fruitvale Station star Jordan. Creed is to open in theaters Nov. 25.

"Adonis Johnson never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born," a synopsis said. "Still, there's no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed's legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa."

Jordan plays Adonis, while Stallone reprises his iconic role of Rocky.

Which musician's guitar sold at auction for $2.4 million?

A guitar used early in the Beatles' career by John Lennon sold for $2.41 million in an online auction Saturday.

The acoustic guitar, a Gibson J-160E, was lost for 40 years and sold for three times the expected price of $800,000 on Julien's Live auction block site. The buyer wished to remain anonymous. The sale was a record, even for a guitar considered part of music history.

Lennon bought the guitar in September 1962 at Rushworth's Music House in Liverpool for 161 Pounds (or $450 then). Lennon wrote the hits Love Me Do and Please Please Me on it and used it in the recording of the Beatles' first two albums.

The guitar went missing in December 1963. How exactly is not known. The Gibson was bought by Tommy Pressley at a music store in San Diego in 1967. Pressley had no idea the guitar belonged to Lennon.

A few years later, Pressley sold it to his friend John McCaw who owned the instrument for several years. McCaw got curious about the instrument's history in 2008, which eventually led to Saturday's sale.

Half of the proceeds from the sale of Lennon's guitar will go to the Spirit Foundation, a charity set up by Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Lennon's guitar was only half the Beatle items for sale. Ringo Starr's drumhead (emblazoned with the Beatles name) used on the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, first U.S. concert and other dates on the band's first American tour sold for $2.125 million. The sale price was also double the estimated selling price of $1 million.

Also a baseball signed by all four Beatles in 1966 sold for $100,000.

Other significant items sold during the auction were Kurt Cobain's green cardigan worn during Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance sold for $137,500 and a 24K gold leaf piano from Elvis Presley's Graceland mansion sold for $600,000.
