Hello Everyone...

You may know him best from the 00's garage rock band, The Strokes, but lead singer Julian Casablancas is a collaborative musician who has worked with many other influential acts. It turns out he also has a sense of humor and a soft spot in particular for Saturday Night Live. Remember that Digital Short/Lonely Island song, Boombox? Yep, that was him.

As a bonus track to his debut solo album, Casablancas also recorded a rockin' version of a classic SNL song, "I Wish It Was Christmas Today". You may recall the holiday sketch with Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, Chris Kattan, and Tracey Morgan. Who would have ever thought that some one would have covered that of all things? Well it's surprisingly good (and festive) with the sleigh bells jinglin' throughout the song, though it never gets boring. It reminds you of 80's synthrock but the vocals shift from crooning to contemporarily grungey and biting through the chorus.

Happy Holidays from everyone at GopherCentral and PulseTV!
