Skincare Tips for Smoother Underarms
Of all the areas on your body, the underarms are probably the
most annoying to deal with. Regardless of your hair type,
chances are you?ve dealt with stubble, discoloration and other
issues for quite some time. However, if you?re looking for an
easier way to get underarms you won?t be embarrassed by, there
are some tips and tricks you can follow at home.
The main thing to keep in mind is that the skin of your under-
arms is extremely sensitive. The very things you do on a daily
basis could likely be the reason why you?re having problems
with your underarms in the first place. Just like any other
part of your body, the underarms can become irritated and
sensitive. Many women deal with ingrown hairs, which can occur
when the hair grows back into the skin. One way to remedy this
problem and get a closer shave is to exfoliate the area. It is
possible to have clogged pores in your underarms like your
complexion so take time once or twice a week (or as needed, as
long as you don?t overdo it) to properly wash under your arms
and exfoliate the area. Using a gentle loofah or body brush can
bring ingrown hairs to the surface where they can be properly
removed. There are even special skincare products that are
designed to clean and exfoliate the sensitive skin of the
underarm area. After washing your underarms allow the area to
dry completely and avoid putting on deodorant right away so
your pores have a chance to breathe.
It goes without saying that shaving your underarms puts a lot
of stress on the area. Always make sure that the razor you?re
using is new and sharp - never use dull blades. Shaving in the
shower is the best way to prep the underarms. In fact, shaving
your underarms at night is the preferred way of dealing with
issues like razor burn. By shaving at night, you avoid
excessively sweating as you normally would during the day. The
combination of sweat (even just a little), along with the
chemicals in your deodorant and the little cuts you may get
from shaving can all contribute to razor burn, discomfort and
even clogged pores. Shaving at night eliminates these situations
and by the time you apply deodorant or antiperspirant in the
morning, you won?t have to deal with the sting.
Dealing with dark underarms? Then regular exfoliation can help.
By regularly sloughing off layers of dead skin cells, your
underarms won?t appear quite so dark. Waxing the area has also
been shown to lighten up the underarm area as well, while
effectively removing the unwanted hair at the same time.
If you just don?t want to deal with underarm hair altogether
and want to enjoy smooth, flawless underarms, you can look
into permanent hair removal methods such as laser hair removal
or electrolysis. While these treatments can be a bit pricey,
especially if multiple sessions are needed, you can be free of
underarm hair and cut down on your shaving routine in the shower.
