Hello Everyone,

Have you ever been short just one ingredient while attempting to try a great new recipe? I know I have! There is nothing more frustrating than discovering you are just one ingredient shy of your next great creation. So, with that in mind here are some alternatives or substitutions that may help:

Whole eggs--> 3 Tablespoons mayonnaise.

Baking powder --> 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar and 1/4 teaspoon cornstarch. This quick substitution is equal to one teaspoon of baking powder.

Ricotta Cheese --> 1 cup cottage cheese + 1 Tbsp skim milk.

Unsweetened chocolate(1 oz) --> 3 tbsp. cocoa plus 1 tbsp. butter or oil.

1 tsp. double-acting baking powder --> 1/4 tsp. baking soda plus 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar.

Vanilla -->Use equal amount of maple syrup.

1 tsp. fresh lemon juice --> 1/2 tsp. vinegar.

Hint 1: Ring around the collar is caused by oil, dirt and grime that gathers around the neck. Shampoo is made to remove body oils and will work on an item that is made from those same body oils.

Apply your regular shampoo to the neck area of the garment, gently scrub, then launder as usual.

Hint 2: Here's a quick tip when you need to iron clothes but don't have much time.

To make ironing go faster, use the square end of the board instead of the pointed one. This allows a larger surface to be ironed at once and cuts down the need to keep turning the garment.
