QUOTE A DAY - Aug. 30, 2011

Greetings fellow quote lovers:

Folks, I have a question for you. Do you feel you are working harder than you ever worked to stay even? I think the question is valid. I was at a HS football game Friday night. I traveled 110 miles to see our local HS team play a school downstate. They met half way at ISU in Normal, IL.

Our HS team put a thumping on the other school and at the half, the score was 45-0. One of the fathers of the losing struck up a conversation with me and told me that the kids from his school don't come from "$350,000 homes. The parents are just lucky to pay the mortgage".

His implication was that our HS team were "rich"...and maybe comparatively, they were. But it got me thinking on the ride home that there are millions of people struggling out there. This father sought me out and told his story to me- a stranger (that happens a lot to me by the way. I have a face that is 'approachable' I guess).

On Saturday, I searched my quote library for words on effort.

Why? Because I wanted to bring a little hope to all who are struggling. Our own business is not without its ups and downs. We are in Illinois and our e-commerce sales were down 40% due to a hurricane Irene 1000 miles away. My sister Anisa clued me in on how storms on either coast affect us in the middle.

So we work harder to overcome unpredictability. I worked all day Saturday AND Sunday as we are launching our Daily Deap App on the Apple iPhone. Readers know that QAD is not a money maker.

I do this because I love sharing words of wisdom. But I do want to ask a favor and if you have an Android or iPhone, please download the free daily deal app (links below). We really are offering recession busting products on everything from electronics to Egyptian sheets. Thanks for reading and enjoy today's issue.

Here are the links to our phone apps.

The one thing that matters is the effort. It continues, whereas the end to be attained is but an illusion of the climber, as he fares on and on from crest to crest; and once the goal is reached it has no meaning.
