Quote-A-Day - April 20, 2010

Greetings fellow quote lovers:

Few people know that last week President Obama signed
an assassination order for an American-born Muslim.
This marks an even more aggressive policy than President
Bush and Homeland Security implemented.

So should you care? The answer is; of course. One of the
most sacrosanct protections of our constitution is the
right to a jury trial of one's peers. And now, Obama with
a stroke of the pen orders the assassination of an
American without a trial.

But since the suspect is part of a minority, few Americans
have raised their voices to oppose the "extra-judicial"
order. I want each and every person to read the first
quote. Commit it to memory. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a
German cleric during WWII when Nazis began imprisoning
different categories of German citizens. The analogy
holds for us today.

Best,

JA

*---- Quotes For The Week ----*

First they came for the Communists, but I was not a
Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for
the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was
neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for
the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out.
And when they came for me, there was no one left
to speak out for me.

If you do a good job for others, you heal yourself at
the same time, because a dose of joy is a spiritual cure.

To understand reality is not the same as to know about
outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of
things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the
wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the
multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what
is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an
apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible
to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will
seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events,
but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge.

The essence of optimism is that it takes no account of the
present, but it is a source of inspiration, of vitality
and hope where others have resigned; it enables a man to
hold his head high, to claim the future for himself and
not to abandon it to his enemy.
