QUOTE A DAY - Jan. 10, 2012
Greetings fellow quote lovers:Today is one of the most important issues we have ever put together. Last month, with Obama's full support, 87 Senators voted for something called the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
This act makes it legal to imprison any US citizen indefinitely WITHOUT TRIAL. I am not making this up. 13 Senators opposed it; 6 Republican, 6 Democrats and Socialist Bernie Sanders.
Obama had already signed an executive order that gave him the right to kill US citizens WITHOUT TRIAL if he thought it was in the national interest...I am not making this up. One US born citizen has already been killed by executive order a few months.
The genius of the elite is to get most of us believing there is a major difference between Republicans and Democrats. They give us the illusion of choice. Meanwhile, our cherished liberties are gradually taken away.
I ran across these words by a German author, writing about Germany from 1933-1945. We desperately believe that these words apply to our own country. Not to see the parallel is to court further erosion of our values.

Email Me*---- Quotes For The Week ----*What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
--Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free-The Germans 1933-1945
Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed.
--Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free-The Germans 1933-1945
This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes.
--Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free-The Germans 1933-1945

See at the bottom for the answer*---- More Quotes for the Week ----*In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.
--Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free-The Germans 1933-1945
[Y]our colleagues pooh-pooh you as pessimistic or even neurotic. You are left with your close friends, who are, naturally, people who have always thought as you have.
--Milton Mayer, They Thought They Were Free-The Germans 1933-1945
