*-- Poll: Obama's 39 percent approval rating lowest of presidency --*

HAMDEN, Conn. - The 39 percent job approval rating of President Obama is his lowest in the Quinnipiac University national poll since he became president, the university said.

Fifty-four percent of respondents said they disapprove of the job Obama is doing, results of the Hamden, Conn., university's national poll released Tuesday indicated.

Voters in every income and age group disapprove of the job Obama is doing, with the highest disapproval rating among voters 65 years and older, 59 percent to 36 percent, the poll indicated.

Also for the first time in a Quinnipiac poll, a majority of voters said, 52 percent to 44 percent, they didn't consider Obama honest and trustworthy.

The poll also indicated voters, by a 53 percent-to-43 percent margin, said the Obama administration hasn't been competent running the government.

Also by a 51-percent-to 43-percent margin, voters say Obama wasn't paying enough attention to what his administration was doing, pollsters said.

Obama earned a 52 percent-42 percent approval rating for handling terrorism, with negative ratings on foreign policy, immigration, the federal budget, healthcare and the economy.

Results are based on a nationwide survey of 2,545 registered voters Nov. 6-11. The margin of error is 1.9 percentage points.
