Here's the Scoop....

Ricki Lake's Malibu rental home went up in flames Saturday
morning after a couch was caught on fire. She was able to
escape along with her two sons and their dog.

She told authorities that she was trying to refuel a portable
heater when the couch caught fire. The flames quickly spread,
destroying the rest of her home.

Her rep says that she "lost many personal items, but is grateful

Paris Hilton Gets Year's Probation, No Jail...

Appearing before a Las Vegas judge first thing Monday morning
regarding her Aug. 27 drug arrest, Paris Hilton pleaded guilty
to two misdemeanors, drug possession and obstructing an office,
but avoided jail time.

Just as the District Attorney had confirmed over the weekend,
under the terms of the plea, Paris was placed on probation for
a year. If she is arrested in the next year she will face a
year behind bars.

Clark County Detention Center Justice of the Peace Joe
Bonaventure, told Paris, "The purpose here is to change
your conduct. [The Clark County Detention Center] is not
the Waldorf=Astoria."

Paris was arrested shortly before midnight on Las Vegas Boulevard
after police pulled over a vehicle in which she was a passenger.
The male driver of the car was arrested on DUI drug charges. Her
purse also contained a bag with .8 grams of cocaine.

After the hearing, the attorney told reporters: "She was treated
like anyone else would be treated under the circumstances, and
I'm very proud of the way she's dealt with this. I think she's
on the road to success and I wish her personally the best."

Paris must also complete a substance-abuse program, pay a $2,000
fine and complete 200 hours of community service. According to
Chesnoff, "She does a lot of stuff with animal rights, and I
understand she's done work with children's hospitals, so I think
she'll continue something along those lines."

Telling the judge multiple times that she understood and agreed
to the plea bargain, Paris admitted that she lied to Las Vegas
police officers when she told them the purse that contained the
cocaine wasn't hers.

As to why she misled authorities, a source close to Paris says,
"At the moment it all came down, she was scared. But since then,
she's had time to think about her actions, and she's taking this
really seriously."

Asked why the heiress did not fight the charges against her,
attorney Chesnoff said, "Miss Hilton accepted responsibility."

Lindsay Lohan Admits Failing Drug Test...

No more excuses.

Lindsay Lohan admitted Friday night that she failed a random drug
test, an offense that could send her back to jail for 30 days.

"This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility
for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences," Lindsay
writes on her Twitter page.

Lindsay, who was released from rehab Aug. 24 after serving nearly
two weeks in jail in a DUI case, thanks her fans and family for
their support. She says she's "keeping my faith" and remains
"hopeful."

"Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn?t go away
over night," she writes. "I am working hard to overcome it and am
taking positive steps forward every single day and doing what I
must do to prevent any mishaps in the future."

Lindsay says she's ready to go back before Superior Court Judge
Elden Fox. So far, the judge has not yet set a hearing in the
matter.

TV's Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Andy Whitfield will not be
returning to the Starz series for a second season, due to a
recurrence of cancer that will require aggressive treatment,
the network has announced.

"Our hearts and prayers are with Andy and his family during this
difficult time," said Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht.
"Andy is not only an incredible actor whose portrayal of

also an amazing human being whose courage, strength and grace in
the face of adversity have inspired all of us."

Kim Kardashian and Miles Austin Call It Quits...

Barely more than a week after a source claimed that Kim Kardashian's
long-distance romance with her Dallas Cowboys beau, Miles Austin,
was going "stronger than ever," the couple have gone their separate
ways.

"There's no huge reason except their distance apart," a source close
to the couple says, explaining that the decision was mutual. "With
his season and Kim's filming [Keeping Up with the Kardashians] it
just slowly split them apart."

The source adds: "They tried to keep it as low profile as possible
when they were together. They were acting as if they were single or
just having fun, but they never were, it was the real deal. They
were always strong, but before Kim left for Europe they decided
it's not fair that they don't get to spend more time together and
ended it."

Randy and Evi Quaid Facing Burglary Charges...

Randy Quaid and his wife Evi were arrested Saturday and charged
with felony residential burglary after the new owner of a home
in Montecito that the Quaids once owned discovered the couple
squatting in a guest house on the property.

Santa Barbara Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene Saturday
afternoon after being alerted by a representative of the property's
owner that someone was living there without permission.

When deputies initially arrived, no one was home. But during a
second visit that evening, they found Randy and Evi Quaid, who
told authorities they had owned the property since the 1990s,
according to the Sheriff's Department Web site.

However, the owner's rep produced documents showing that his
client had purchased the property in 2007 from a man who in
turn had bought it from the Quaids years earlier. At that
point, the actor and his wife were arrested.

A contractor who had worked on the property showed deputies that
that more than $5,000 in damages, believed to have been caused
by the Quaids, had occurred in the guesthouse.

Deputies handcuffed Randy Quaid, 59, without incident but his
wife, 47, physically resisted and was also charged with
misdemeanor resisting arrest.

The couple were booked into Santa Barbara County jail and face
charges of felony residential burglary and misdemeanor entering
a non-commercial building without consent. Bail was set at
$50,000 each.
