'Extraordinary Measures' DVD

Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser star in this drama inspired
by a true story about developing a treatment for Pompe dis-
ease, a neuromuscular disorder that was previously inevitably
fatal. John Crowley (Fraser) is a Bristol-Myers executive
who has two children with Pompe disease, and in his dogged
attempts to get help for them, he joins forces with the
curmudgeonly researcher Robert Stonehill (Ford). Eventually,
Crowley and Dr. Stonehill start up their own biotech company
to find a drug that will combat the disease. The movie is
partly about how medical research is conducted and financed.

'Invictus' DVD

Clint Eastwood directed this drama that stars Morgan Freeman
and Matt Damon. Set in the mid-1990s, the film is based on a
true story. When Nelson Mandela (Freeman) becomes president
of South Africa, he embarks upon a series of moves he hopes
will ease the racial tension that divides his country. One
of these is to try to unite the citizenry, which is predom-
inantly black, in supporting the national rugby team, which
is almost all white. To accomplish this, he allies himself
with the team captain, François Pienaar (Damon), and the
movie follows events as the team competes for the 1995 World
Cup.
