He (Jesus) went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."

Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done."

Matthew 26:39&42

Jesus clearly knew that He was about to suffer terribly and was praying that if there was no other way, He was willing to do as His Father asked of Him.

Greetings Bible Enthusiast!

Someone recently commented that a prayer is any act of love. I had to disagree. Prayer is simply communicating with God, as Paul said, "with supplication and thanksgiving, letting our requests be made known to God."

There are no special words that add power to any prayer, except for praying in the name of Jesus. In fact sometimes our deepest, most heartfelt prayers are those that have no words. We can express to Him all that is in our hearts, with all sincerity, as often as we need to, until our request is fulfilled. Sometimes, the answer will be no, and sometimes there will be no answer at all. We must be content with that, willing to wait for God's timing, which is always perfect.

The most important thing is to pray for the will of God, as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane, "not My will, but Thine be done."

God Bless You!

--TODAY'S BIT OF WISDOM/REFLECTION:

"Do not have your concert first, then tune your instrument afterwards. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all in harmony with Him."

--FEATURED FUNNY:

Little Darlene surprised her mother with the postscript to her bedtime prayer: "And dear Lord, please send the beautiful snow to keep the little flowers warm through the winter." Climbing into her bed, she confided to her mother: "That time I fooled Him. I really wanted the snow so I can go sledding with my new sled."

--ANSWER TO TRIVIA QUESTION:

Q. What two dinosaurs are named and described in Job?

A. behemoth and Leviathan

Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you;
He eats grass like an ox...
He moves his tail like a cedar...

Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, Or snare his tongue with a line which you lower?

Job 40:15-24 and Job 41:1-34

These truly were awesome creatures! They are described in much detail and can leave no doubt in the reader's mind that they were dinosaurs. Leviathan is described as being a fire-breathing dragon, providing fodder in later years
for all the old stories of knights rescuing maidens from such fearsome animals.
