What's Up...

Okay, I know I just posted a Nirvana video...but the deluxe reissue of Nevermind comes out THIS WEEK - so I'm pretty excited. I hope you can handle another Nirvana issue (but this one is unique, I promise!)

I can almost remember the day I heard "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (or at least the day I decided to download it via Napster...) and there are still only a few songs I care about as much as that one. Besides changing the music landscape forever - it's just a blood-pumping, stomach-churning, brutal-energied song. There's nothing quite like it.

When Nirvana was getting famous, (because of this song) most of the concert-goers really only knew about their hit single. Their popularity came so suddenly, there wasn't enough time for fans to brush up on some old classics and that bothered the band. They grew really sick and tired of playing it live, and were contractually obligated to play it one day at the Top of The Pops, a British music show. If that wasn't bad enough, they weren't allowed to play their instruments, since the place simply wasn't rigged for that. So they wound up doing this weird karaoke version of their own song just to mess with everyone. It's hilarious and fun to watch. Hope ya enjoy it.
