Britney Spears gets second offer in Vegas

A second venue in Las Vegas is trying to retain pop artist Britney Spears for a residency, the Las Vegas Sun reported. Spears has been in negotiations with Caesars Entertainment for a 35- or 45-show run of weekend shows over two years at PH Live in Planet Hollywood, the Sun said. However, now a nightclub group has made an offer that matches or exceeds the PH Live offer, the newspaper said. Executives reportedly toured the nightclub that Spears would be performing in over the weekend to determine whether it would be able to accommodate the star's show. As part of the nightclub deal, Spears would also host special VIP party events, the newspaper said. Spears will be making the final decision between the two offers.

Ex says McCready's suicide not a shock

Singer Billy McKnight says the suicide of country star Mindy McCready, his ex-girlfriend, at her Arkansas home was not "a major shock." The former couple had fought for years over custody of their 6-year-old son Zander, who was placed in foster care along with his 10-month-old brother Zayne, this month. McCready's family said she had been drinking and using drugs again, and wasn't caring for her children The baby's father, McCready's then-fiance David Wilson, was found dead of a gunshot wound in January. McCready denied any involvement in his death, which remains under investigation. McCready, 37, died of an apparent self-inflected gunshot wound Sunday afternoon. She reportedly shot her dog before she killed herself. "As sad as it is, it didn't come as a major shock," McKnight said on the "Today" show Monday. "She's just been battling demons for so long," he said. "I was around her when she attempted suicide twice, so I knew it was in her. ... I feel for her mother and her family and especially my son." McKnight said he wants Zander to live with him. "He needs to come home," he said, adding, "I don't know what is going to happen to Zayne."

*-*-* GUESS WHO *-*-*

This Oscar winning actor says he was recently accused of shop lifting and and was publicly frisked inside a deli in Manhattan.... Guess Who??

It's Forest Whitaker

Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker said he was accused of shoplifting and was publicly frisked inside a deli in Manhattan. The New York Post said Whitaker, in town to film "Black Nativity," was about to leave the Milano Market on Broadway when one of the workers allegedly saw him take an item from a shelf. The worker allegedly stopped Whitaker and gave him a patdown in the store, The Post said. No stolen items were found. Whitaker's driver, Reggie Crupe, said he saw an employee come out of the store and apologize to Whitaker. "He told Mr. Whitaker that the cameras in the store were at a bad angle and that he could not see if Forest had stolen anything," Crupe said. The Post said the employee offered Whitaker free food as part of his apology.
Whitaker's spokesman said the incident violated the actor's rights and upset him. The Post said the store employees have denied the incident occurred.
