Mislabeled pills seized from Prince's estate contain powerful opioid fentanyl
According to a new report, mislabeled pills found inside Prince's estate contain the same drug that lead to his death, the powerful painkiller fentanyl.
Citing an anonymous source close to the investigation, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that pills marked as hydrocodone actually contained fentanyl which is roughly 100 times stronger than morphine.
The publication notes that fentanyl was stashed inside aspirin and vitamin C bottles and that investigators are working under the assumption that the legendary singer took the deadly drug unknowingly.
In June, an autopsy report revealed that the singer had died from a fatal "self-administered" dose of fentanyl. Prince was found dead in an elevator by two staffers at his Minneapolis-area property, Paisley Park, on the morning of April 21. Prescription drugs were found on his person.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Prince's longtime musical collaborator Sky Dangcil revealed that the 57-year-old began taking painkillers after suffering from a hip injury.
"[Prince] took the pills to keep the show going," Dangcil said noting that Prince's inner circle "saw that his hips were turning into a bigger problem."
LOOSE LIPS:
"At the time, I hadn't started transitioning yet, but I was sort of in the androgynous space. I had a shaved head and I wore makeup every day to ballet class. Then I saw this character who was gender non-conformant like me, saying, 'Don't dream it, be it.' That became a personal mantra. I am it - it being Dr. Frank-N-Furter."

Nick Cannon: Mariah Carey and I had sex to 'Hero'
Nick Cannon is spilling details about his sex life with ex-wife Mariah Carey.
The 35-year-old actor confirmed he and the 46-year-old singer would make love to her music while appearing on Friday's episode of The Amber Rose Show.
"Ha! I answered this question while I was married -- mistake -- [but] yes, I have," Cannon told host Amber Rose. "She didn't like the fact that I told the world that we had sex to her music, but it was true."
"Can you imagine having sex with Mariah Carey while Mariah Carey is playing in the background? That is a dream come true. Sorry, Mariah. I said I wasn't going to say that again," he apologized before adding, "[The song was] 'Hero.'"
Cannon had initially revealed that he and Carey would have sex to her music on The Howard Stern Show in 2013. His new interview follows rumors that Carey played her own songs as entrance music at a restaurant in Capri, Italy, in July.
"They have their own playlist. Somebody there made a playlist of my songs that I like better than the playlists that I have, and I was there and I was like, 'Can we get this one?'" the singer told Entertainment Tonight this month.
Cannon and Carey announced their split in August 2014 after six years of marriage. The pair, who share 5-year-old fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan, finalized their divorce in April 2015.
"I'm not ready to be in a relationship. I'm broken," the actor told Rose. Carey, meanwhile, got engaged to Australian businessman James Packer in January.
