Minaj slams 'AI' contestant on Twitter

"American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj blasted recently ousted contestant Devin Velez on Twitter, telling him to "just simply b gracious" he got the opportunity. Velez was sent home on the singing competition Thursday after he sang the Perry Como hit "It's Impossible." Minaj slammed his Wednesday performance of The Four Tops' "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" with fellow contestants Lazaro Arbos and Burnell Taylor. "I'm gonna act like I didn't see that or hear it," she said, before ordering the trio to leave the stage, The Hollywood Reporter said. In an interview after he was ousted from the show, Velez said he agreed with Minaj's critique that the performance was weak, but questioned her professionalism. "When she went crazy -- when she was like 'get off the stage, blah blah blah' and it's just like 'whoa Miss Minaj, I need you to calm down please,' " he said. The judges have a collective one-time only save option but did not choose to exercise it to keep Velez on the show. Following Velez's complaints, Minaj took to Twitter, saying the female contestants on the show are too good to use the save on a male contestant. "If Curtis [Finch Jr.] didn't get SAVED, NONE of u get saved. Best male voice of the SEASON!!!!!!!!!!! #TruthTea," Minaj tweeted. "Trust me BEW BEW. If EYE didn't want u in that TOP, YOU ldnt have been in that TOP. Fought for ALL of You. So just simply b gracious," she added.

Bieber's monkey confiscated in Munich

Customs officials in Germany seized a capuchin monkey from pop star Justin Bieber because he did not have the proper paperwork, officials said. The monkey, named Mally, was confiscated at the Munich airport Thursday as Bieber, 19, was going through customs, The Sun, a British newspaper, reported. The teen idol, who allegedly brought the monkey into Germany illegally on his private jet, was held at the airport for some time while the monkey was being confiscated. "The animal required a certificate of health and other authorizations," a customs spokesman said. "You cannot just land with a wild animal and bring it into the country if the flight has not originated from another EU country and you don't have the proper paperwork." Bieber was given a fine of more than $15,000. TMZ reported that the monkey was a gift from record producer Mally Mall -- who tweeted a picture of Bieber with the monkey this week, with the caption: "OG MALLY FIRST PIC WITH HIS POPS @JUSTINBIEBER."

Signed Beatles album sells for $290,500

A mint condition, signed mono copy of the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album sold for $290,500 at a Dallas auction house, officials said. The album, signed by all four members of The Beatles, had been listed at $30,000 before the sale by Heritage Auctions. The selling price shattered the previous record for an autographed Beatles album -- $150,000 in a private sale for a copy of "Meet the Beatles," The Dallas Morning News reported. Two bidders -- one on the phone, another on the Internet -- battled it out for the album. One of the two bidders -- identified only as from the U.S. Midwest -- ended up winning, The Hollywood Reporter said.
