Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' video sets new Vevo record

U.S. pop star Miley Cyrus' latest music video "Wrecking Ball" has set a new record for most Vevo views in a 24-hour period. Cyrus, 20, looks naked -- although she is wearing underwear -- as she clings to the titular wrecking ball in the clip and complains about love. The video, which was posted Monday, was viewed about 14.7 million times by 8 a.m. ET Tuesday. "I came in like a wrecking ball," Cyrus sings. "All you ever did was wreck me." The previous viewership record for a single day was held by One Direction's "Best Song Ever," which was seen by 12.3 million viewers when it was released June 25. Digital Spy said Cyrus' video hit that milestone about 13 hours after it was released. "We broke the record :) We hit 12.3 million on vevo :) keep watching #wreckingballonvevo thank you Smilers," Cyrus tweeted Monday. "DONT STOP WATCHING WRECKING BALL WE HAVE 9 Hours More we can get the Views Higher! #WreckedTheRecord"

Singer-songwriters Cher, Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder and Miguel are to serve as advisers on the upcoming fifth season of "The Voice" in Los Angeles, NBC said. Cher is set to work alongside coach Blake Shelton, while Sheeran will join forces with coach Christina Aguilera; Ryan Tedder will work with coach Adam Levine; and Miguel will team with coach CeeLo Green. "This group of wildly successful musicians will add their distinctive talents to their respective teams," Paul Telegdy, president of late night and alternative programming for NBC Entertainment, said in a statement Monday. "I know Christina, Adam, CeeLo and Blake are very much looking forward to having them come aboard." Carson Daly will once again serve as host when the singing competition series returns Sept. 23.

Sharon Osbourne reveals she had a 'fling' with Jay Leno

Sharon Osbourne revealed on "The Talk" in Los Angeles she had a brief romance with comedian Jay Leno before getting serious with her rocker husband Ozzy. Osbourne, 60, said she and Leno, 63, dated shortly after she arrived in Los Angeles from London in 1978. "Remember, at 25, I had met my husband but we weren't together. We were just friends," Osbourne explained on Monday's edition of her chat show. "So, I'm here, [and] I didn't have a boyfriend -- I never did date a lot at that time anyway because I was not very dateable." Osbourne said her first impression of Leno after seeing him perform at a comedy club was he was "very nice, very funny." She said her friend gave her Leno's phone number and she prank-called him several times, which led to him asking her for a date. "He actually came to my house and met me and we had a little fling," Osbourne said, adding it didn't work out because Leno soon met and fell in love with his wife Mavis Nicholson, marrying her in 1980. "The fling was more of a fling for me and not fling enough for him because a couple of months later he brought around the real love of is life for me to meet, and she was lovely and they took me to Fatburger and showed me around town," Osbourne said.
Osbourne married Ozzy, now 64, in 1982.

Katherine Heigl set to return to television

Emmy Award-winning actress Katherine Heigl has signed on to star in an as-yet-untitled CIA television drama, The Hollywood Reporter said. The mother of two young children left "Grey's Anatomy" in 2010 following a creative clash with the show's writers and producers. Alexi Hawley is to pen and executive produce the pilot for the CIA series. Heigl will star in and executive produce the project, alongside Robert Simonds, her mother/manager Nancy Heigl, Hawley, Henry Crumpton, Rodney Faraon and Julia Franz, The Hollywood Reporter said. "I have been passionate about, and enthralled by, this project from the moment Hank, Rodney and Bob brought it to me over a year ago," Heigl said. "The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven't seen before in film or television. I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life. NBC has been a true partner in their passion and support for the show that we've dreamed of making, and I could not be happier about joining forces with them. Together, with our brilliant writer Alexi Hawley, I believe we are going to make great television."
