Here's the Scoop...

I just read a story that Simon Pegg revealed he enlisted the help of Star Trek wiki writers with crafting the screenplay for the next film in the series, Star Trek Beyond. That's awesome and crazy all at the same time!

This story will be discussed on the next episode of my new hit show, 'When Fan Fiction Becomes Film Fact'. I'm kidding. I don't have a show, I just write about it in my journal.

Be Well,
Steve

Michael Strahan confirms 'Live' departure, thanks Kelly Ripa
Michael Strahan confirmed his Live! with Kelly and Michael departure on Wednesday's episode of the morning talk show.

The 44-year-old television personality will leave Live! to become a full-time host on Good Morning America in September, but assured fans he's "not going anywhere" since both series are produced at ABC studios.

"I was reading some stuff and it sounded like I died!" Strahan said of fan reaction to the news. "Thank you guys. I can't ask for better fans at all. You guys have been absolutely amazing. And on top of that, I've worked with incredible staff here.

"I'm always here," he asserted. "I'm always available to guest co-host if I get a call because I consider myself to be a part of this family forever. I just want to say thank you to everybody out there. I'm not going anywhere."

The Goldbergs actress Ana Gasteyer filled in for Strahan's co-host, Kelly Ripa, who was conspicuously absent on the episode. Strahan had nothing but praise for Ripa, who has hosted the talk show since 2001.

"I really want to thank, of course, Kelly Ripa," the television personality said. "Kelly welcomed me here and I've learned so much from her, and she's just been an amazing influence on me and this has truly changed my life to be her with her."

"This show has not been around for over 30 years by mistake," he added. "It's because of all the people who work here extremely hard. Kelly, I thank you, I love you, and everyone else here at Live!"

Sources told E! News Ripa was shocked to only recently learn about Strahan's departure. ABC reportedly kept Ripa and other staff members in the dark to prevent leaks.

"She was livid. It wasn't pretty," an insider said of Ripa's reaction. "[The secrecy] was a network decision. [The move] wasn't an overnight decision and took some time to put it in place."

Strahan was made a permanent Live! host in 2012 and started contributing to Good Morning America in 2014. He is also a retired NFL defensive end who played 15 years with the New York Giants.

LOOSE LIPS:
"You realize like, 'Oh right, this is what the real thing is, this is what real love is and this is what commitment and devotion is.' This is the person that you build your life with, and for me, it's like the rest of everything else just kind of like dissolves."
--Cameron Diaz, opening up about her marriage to husband Benji Madden, to Radio Andy host Andy Cohen

J.J. Abrams: Harrison Ford's injury led to improvements in 'Force Awakens'
Star Wars: The Force Awakens director and co-writer J.J. Abrams reveals some good actually came out of the hiatus prompted by an on-set accident involving actor Harrison Ford.

The filmmaker said the break the cast and crew had after Ford injured his leg allowed him to fine-tune the movie's screenplay to improve the relationship between Daisy Ridley and John Boyega's characters.

"When I was on the set of the Millennium Falcon and we started working with Rey and Finn... The first time we did it, it didn't work at all," Abrams said at a Tribeca Film Festival panel discussion with Chris Rock last week.

"As we wrote it, they were much more contentious. It was a very weird thing. I didn't direct it right. It was set up all wrong, and when Harrison Ford got injured, which was a very scary day, we ended up having a few weeks off, and it was during that time that I really got to look at what we had done and re-think it and then re-write quite a bit of that relationship. So, when we came back to work again, we actually just re-shot from the ground up, those scenes. It was an amazingly helpful thing to get these two characters to where they needed to be."

Which actress has been named People's Most Beautiful Woman?

Jennifer Aniston was revealed as People's Most Beautiful Woman of 2016 on Wednesday.

The 47-year-old actress, who previously earned the title in 2004, told the magazine she was "very, very flattered" by the honor, admitting there "was this sort of very excited, teenag-y kind of moment" when she heard the news.

Aniston has been a beauty inspiration to many since her early days on Friends, but didn't always feel great about her appearance. She has since learned to embrace her looks and feels her best when she's "healthy and strong," she said.

"Beauty has changed for me over the years," the actress said. "It's really learning to love every single thing about yourself and also realizing that it's not just sort of clothes, but that there's so much more that's beautiful in a human being."

"[I define beauty as] inner confidence. Peace. Kindness. Honesty. A life well-lived," she elaborated. "Taking on challenges and not feeling shame for things that haven't gone the way you felt they should have. And not feeling like a failure or allowing to critique your life."

Aniston cited activist Gloria Steinem and actresses Lauren Hutton and Brigitte Bardot as her beauty icons. The actress keeps fit by exercising six days a week and eating healthy, although she's no longer "as strict" about her diet.

"It's funny, it's a really quick transition from not a care and now all of a sudden, we've got to be really mindful of what we put inside our bodies," she said. "And how we sleep and take care of ourselves. You can get away with a lot in your 20s."

Aniston recently told Vogue she takes a "less is more" approach to beauty, saying she prefers a "more natural" look. The actress will next star in Mother's Day with Julia Roberts and Kate Hudson, who celebrated her 37th birthday with mom Goldie Hawn on Tuesday.
