Two of the note-worthy releases this week are new editions
of great classics. 'Apollo 13' is being released on an
anniversary Blu-Ray while 'Gone with the Wind' has a new,
multi-disc special edition titled 'The Scarlett Edition'.
Both of these special releases would be great addition to
any film fan's collection.

'Apollo 13' ? 15th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray

Available on Blu-ray for the first time, the riveting 1995
fact-based drama Apollo 13 stars Tom Hanks, was directed by
Ron Howard and was nominated for nine Academy Awards, in-
cluding Best Picture. The film chronicles a 1970 attempt at
a moon landing that turned into a grim struggle for the
astronauts' survival when an onboard explosion occurred.
This single-disc Blu-ray edition carries over the main bonus
materials from DVD versions, plus it enables the viewer to
go deeper into the making of the movie and learn about other
big events that occurred the year of the mission without
stopping the movie.

'Gone With the Wind' ? The Scarlett Edition DVD

The Scarlett Edition of Gone With the Wind, the great 1939
classic that starred Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh and re-
ceived 10 Academy Awards, is being released in both DVD and
Blu-ray versions. The DVD version has five discs, while the
Blu-ray has three. There are tons of extras, and they are
identical for both media formats, except the six-hour docu-
mentary on the history of MGM, When the Lion Roars, is only
on the Blu-ray version. The Scarlett Edition is the same as
the 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition minus the
collectibles, accounting for the Scarlett Edition's substan-
tially lower price.

'Pirate Radio' DVD

fictionalized story of one such station, and the large cast
includes Bill Nighy, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rhys Ifans.
