Here's the Scoop...

It seems like you can't trust anybody these days, not even your own mother. Case in point, George Clooney's mom spilled the beans on the sexes of the actor's unborn twins last week.

The 55-year-old actor's mother, Nina Clooney, said Clooney's wife, Amal Clooney, is pregnant with a boy and a girl, according to an interview with Vogue published Thursday.

"It will be one of each! Yes, a boy and a girl. That's what I've been told," Nina told the magazine. "How marvelous! My husband and I are extremely excited."

The Talk host Julie Chen had announced last week that George and Amal are expecting twins in June, although the couple have yet to publicly comment on the pregnancy. Sources told People the pair did share the happy news with their families.

"[Amal] has let everyone in both families know quietly," an insider said. "They're all very happy."

Clooney's friend and frequent co-star Matt Damon confirmed Wednesday that the actor and Amal are expecting. He told E! News he didn't expect Clooney to ever have children until the star met Amal.

"After he met Amal, yes [I thought he would have kids]. I wasn't surprised when he told me. I'm extremely happy for him and for them," the 46-year-old actor said.

"Once he met her, I had a feeling that was in the cards," he added. 'It wasn't a question for many years -- it was a total nonstarter [if he would start a family]. One he met her, everything changed."

George and Amal married in Venice, Italy, in 2014 after more than a year-long engagement. The dad-to-be will direct Damon in the new movie Suburbicon, and will appear with the actor in Ocean's Eight.

So I think the moral of this story is don't tell your mother anything unless you get her to sign a non-disclosure agreement first. Take legal action!

Be Well,
Steve

Mel Gibson in talks to direct 'Suicide Squad' sequel
Warner Bros. is courting Mel Gibson to direct a sequel to villain-focused team-up film Suicide Squad, according to reports.

The studio has approached Gibson along with other directors about helming the project, with The Hollywood Reporter noting that Gibson and Warner Bros. are in early talks.

Sources close to the situation say that Gibson is now familiarizing himself with the material.

Released in August, Suicide Squad, starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker, followed a band of criminals who team up to do the government's dirty work in exchange for lighter sentences.

Panned by critics, the film, directed by David Ayer, was still a financial success grossing $745 million worldwide.

The other directors Warner Bros. are considering include Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Daniel Espinosa (Safe House), and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), Variety reports.

Previously, Gibson had slammed the studio's other DC Comics film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for its high budget and noted that he wasn't interested in making a superhero film.

"It's a piece of [expletive]," the 61-year-old said in September. "I'm not interested in the stuff. Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic-book superheroes is? Real superheroes didn't wear spandex. So I don't know. Spandex must cost a lot."

Following Suicide Squad, Ayer has moved on to developing Gotham City Sirens, which would bring back Robbie has Harley Quinn alongside fellow Batman villains Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Regis Philbin says Kelly Ripa was 'very offended' when he left 'Live'
Regis Philbin says Kelly Ripa was "very offended" when he left the morning talk show Live.

The 85-year-old television personality explained on Wednesday's episode of Larry King Now why he and the 46-year-old Live host haven't spoken since he quit the series in 2011.

"Not really, no," Philbin said when asked if he and Ripa keep in touch. "Never once did they ask me to go back [on the show]."

"She got very offended when I left," he added. "She thought I was leaving because of her. I was leaving because I was getting older and that wasn't right for me anymore."

"Yeah, I think [she took it personally]," the star speculated. "That was [years] ago. Haven't heard."

Philbin co-hosted Live! with Regis and Kelly from 2001 to 2011 after co-hosting Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee with Kathie Lee Gifford from 1988 to 2000. He previously discussed his estrangement from Ripa on SiriusXM in 2015.

"I haven't seen her, I don't see her," the star said when asked how often he sees or speaks to Ripa. "She lived downtown, and now I hear she's on the East Side, and uh, you know."

Retired NFL star Michael Strahan replaced Philbin on Live in 2012, but departed the show himself in May for Good Morning America. Ripa said on Watch What Happens Live in December that she's still searching for a new co-host.

Bijou Phillips in need of a kidney transplant
Bijou Phillips announced that she is in need of a kidney transplant.

"Bijou was born with small kidneys and has been quietly dealing with kidney disease for the last five years, including being on the transplant list," a rep for the actress told People magazine in a statement Thursday.

"In an effort to heal her body she has led a stress-free life with a vegan diet, which eventually wasn't enough and she's been privately having dialysis," the statement continues.

"She recently found out one of her friends is a match and is optimistic that she will have a transplant soon."

TMZ reported that Phillips needed a transplant after suffering a blood infection. The 36-year-old is said to have been rushed to the hospital Wednesday with her husband Danny Masterson by her side. The site notes that she is in stable condition.

Phillips and Masterson, who married in 2011, share 3-year-old daughter Fianna Francis together.

The 36-year-old was last seen in 2013 television movie Raising Hope.

'American Horror Story' Season 7 to explore 2016 presidential election
Season 7 of American Horror Story will tackle the 2016 presidential election, co-creator Ryan Murphy announced.

"I don't have a title but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through," Murphy revealed Wednesday on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

"So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people," he continued.

When asked if there would be a character based on President Donald Trump, Murphy responded "Maybe."

FX, which carries American Horror Story, renewed the anthology series through Season 9 in January. In October, the network announced Season 7 would air in 2017.

Series mainstays Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have been confirmed to return.

FX CEO John Landgraf, while speaking with Entertainment Weekly at the Television Critics Association's press tour in January, said Season 7 would be "shrouded in super secrecy" until its premiere, much like Season 6.

"Ryan has yet another really innovative idea for how to do something fresh and different with the franchise that audiences haven't seen before, and there's a marketing promotional hook around that," he said at the time.

??? Guess Who ???

Which Oscar winning actress said she was once engaged to Lenny Kravitz?

Nicole Kidman says she was once engaged to singer Lenny Kravitz.

The 49-year-old Australian actress confirmed she was engaged to the 52-year-old American musician in the Feb. 16 issue of The Edit while discussing her work with Kravitz's daughter, Zoe Kravitz, on the HBO series Big Little Lies.

"Well, I knew Zoe because I was engaged to her father. It's all in the family! I love Lenny; he's a great guy," she told the magazine.

"[Nicole] can be quiet and shy, which is interesting because the beast of an actress that she is, is so loud and clear," Zoe Kravitz said. "She's so good that sometimes it was distracting. After every take I wanted to just stop and say, 'Wow.'"

Kidman dated Lenny Kravitz in 2003 following her divorce from Tom Cruise. She previously discussed the engagement in the October 2007 issue of Vanity Fair, although she didn't confirm the singer by name.

"I got engaged to somebody ... but it just wasn't right. I wasn't ready. We weren't ready," she told the publication.

"I get engaged and I get married -- that's my thing," the star said. "I don't want to date. I'm interested in a very, very deep connection."

Kidman went on to wed Keith Urban in 2006, and shares daughters Sunday and Faith with the country star. She recalled on CBS Sunday Morning in December how Urban helped her cope with her father's death in 2014.

"I was shattered beyond belief," she said. "He flew six hours and he was right back there [with me]. And he literally picked me up and pretty much carried me through the next two weeks."

Big Little Lies co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley. The series is based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, and will premiere Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
