Makeup Tips for First Timers

Wearing makeup isn?t for all girls. However, even those that

normally don?t worry about such things can sometimes be
tempted to experiment and eventually fall in love with it.
If you?ve finally decided that you want to join the makeup
movement, you may find the process intimidating at first but
this doesn?t have to be the case. By following some easy,

introductory steps, you can effectively start your makeup
collection without wasting a lot of money.

Falling in love with makeup can turn into an addiction -
even if you?ve never been crazy about such items before.
Before you go out and spend your dollars on any makeup items,
you?ll first want to figure out what kind of look you want to
go for. Do you want to wear makeup but in a more natural way
or do you want to learn how to master some dramatic looks for
those nights out on the town? Either way, it is a good idea
to use the Internet as a resource. With a few clicks you?ll
come across tons of pictures you can use for reference. Do
an online search using keywords such as: ?natural makeup?,
?smokey eye?, ?dramatic makeup?, etc. Or if there is a
celebrity whose makeup you?d love to snag, print out your
favorite photos and bring it to the local makeup store.
Explain to the salesperson that you are new to makeup and
want to get a few items to start your collection. Use your
reference pictures to point out what you like and find out
which makeup items you can use at home to copy the same look.

Avoid overspending and purchasing too much makeup. For
example, buying a huge eye shadow palette with dozens of
colors may look pretty but for a first timer it can be over-
whelming. If you are still learning the ropes, having too
many colors to choose from may cause you to use the wrong
colors for your complexion and skin tone. Instead, start off
with a small set of makeup, such as an eye shadow compact
that contains at least three colors. There are great compacts

available in shades that complement a person?s eye color -
this item is ideal for first timers and will guarantee that
you are using the right colors.

When it comes to buying foundation for the first time, always
get your foundation color matched by a professional makeup
artist. This increases the odds of finding the right
foundation shade. Also keep your skin type in mind when it
comes to choosing foundation formulas. Don?t be afraid to ask

questions, either. In general, a first time makeup fan should
have an eye shadow compact, foundation/powder, mascara, eye
liner and lip color. As you become more comfortable with
shopping for and using makeup, you can slowly begin
incorporating more products into your collection, including
beauty tools.
