*-- Facial Care Regimen: 4 Steps to a Fresh and Glowing Face --*

We can never deny that having a smooth, younger-looking beautiful face gives a great impact on the physical aspect of a person. This applies not only to women but to our macho men as well. So it is very important to have a daily beauty regimen that we do, no matter how busy you are. With long hours at work, exposure to pollution, and a matter of bad habits (smoking and partying into the night, for instance) building up on your face, the only way to combat this is by following a good facial care regimen.

To ensure that you maximize your efforts to attain a supple and glowing face, following four simple steps is very essential. It doesn't matter how old or how young you are to do this steps. And I believe that you better do it properly in the very beginning, on a regular basis at a young age for a long lasting effect.

Here are the steps to a fresh face.

Step 1: Cleanse.

It is advisable to wash your face once in the morning and once in the evening especially before bedtime. Nighttime cleansing is especially important to remove make up and dirt accumulated throughout the day. Before washing your face, be sure to wash your hands first. The face is a sensitive area and we don't want to add more dirt on it instead of removing.

Start with splashing warm water on your face to help open the pores for better cleansing. Avoid using hot water as it might damage your skin and would definitely make it dry. Work the liquid on your face starting from your forehead in circles down to you cheeks up to your chin for about 1 to 2 minutes for deep cleaning. Avoid over cleansing though, as this will strip skin's natural oil and moisturize which may lead to skin dehydration, premature aging, and irritation.

Step 2: Exfoliate.

Exfoliating is a very important step in doing your daily facial care regimen. It helps improve circulation of the skin and slough off dead skin cells.

After cleansing, apply an exfoliating product with tiny granules. Work your way up and down in circular motion then rinse off. It is advisable to do this once a day but if you have sensitive skin, perform this step just once a week.

Step 3: Tone.

After cleansing and exfoliating, toning helps in removing residual dirt or cleanser left on your face. Toner helps tighten pores and restore the natural PH level of the skin. It also prepares the skin for moisturizer or being hydrated.

Apply an alcohol-free or glycolic toner on a cotton pad then gently apply all over the face.

Step 4: Moisturize.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Aside from cleansing, for me, this one's the most important part of the whole facial care regimen process. This is what makes the face soft, glowing, and supple as it helps restore the natural moisture of the face.

Choose a moisturizer with at least SPF 15 to protect your face from various elements. Deeply apply an ample amount of moisturizer on a circular with upward stroke motion all over the face. However, do not over do moisturizing as it might clog on pores help you achieve blackheads and pimples. If going out under the sun, apply a moisturizer with higher SPF of at least 30 or above. At night, slather a generous amount of moisturizer and massage all over your face to give your skin a treat.
