Good morning,

Welcome to a new year! I am always inspired with hope at the beginning of a new year. Who knows what kind of inventions, innovations or discoveries might turn up in 2014 that could improve our lives, our world and our environment?

The world's technological prowess is greater than it has ever been, and while that is frequently part of the problem, it can also be the solution. What we cannot afford to be is hypocritical.

This recent news story about the research ship trapped in the ice in Antarctica has gotten a lot of coverage. What has not been widely reported is that the research the vessel was supposed to have been conducting was into proof of global warming, or climate change if you prefer.

Why not report this information? I don't think anybody hopes the planet is really warming just so they can have the satisfaction of being right. If it is a political or financial agenda that would make anyone complicit in a cover up or a conspiracy a criminal of a far worse and disgusting nature.

What is needed is honesty and an objective, cooperative assessment and evaluation of any and all facts. Covering up or excluding evidence, of whatever nature, is a selfish act just as bad as any corruption of the environment.

Thanks for reading,
