Greetings,

The American version of one of the most terrifying vampire
films I have ever personally seen ('Let the Right One In')
hits DVD shelves today. Aptly re-titled 'Let Me In', this
take on the story is equally compelling. However, if you plan
on checking this one out, be sure to see the original film
first; it is not in English, but you can find translated
versions.

Watch It Now,
Anisa

'Conviction' DVD

Based on a true story, this drama stars Hilary Swank. The
tale begins in 1980 when a woman is murdered in Ayer,
Massachusetts. A local cop (Melissa Leo) fixates on hot-
headed, hard-drinking Kenny Waters (Sam Rockwell) as the
suspect and eventually gets him convicted and imprisoned. But
Kenny's sister Betty Anne (Swank) believes so strongly in her
brother's innocence that she puts herself through college
and law school, then mounts a relentless legal battle that
goes on for years. Other actors in the movie include Minnie
Driver and Peter Gallagher as big-shot attorney Barry Scheck.

'Let Me In' DVD

This vampire tale is the American remake of the Swedish-
language film Let the Right One In. The timeframe remains
the early 1980s, but the location has been transposed from
Stockholm to Los Alamos, New Mexico. There a 12-year-old boy
named Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Road) lives in an
apartment building. Then Abby (Chloe Moretz from Kick-Ass),
who looks like a girl of about Owen's age, moves into the
building with a man (Richard Jenkins) that Owen takes to be
her father. Soon there are bizarre murders, prompting an
investigation by a policeman (Elias Koteas).

'Never Let Me Go' DVD

Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield play
the central characters in this drama adapted from Kazuo
Ishiguro's acclaimed dystopian novel. The story is set in
an alternate reality version of England in the recent past
where a system has been developed that greatly extends human
life span. The movie focuses on Kathy (Mulligan), Tommy
(Garfield) and Ruth (Knightley), who are together at
Hailsham, a depressing boarding school. Words like "carer,"
"completed" and "possible" are used strangely, and the viewer
gradually learns what is going on in this bleak film.
