Ex-LA Laker Lamar Odom gets three years probation for DUI

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom was sentenced to three years of probation Monday after pleading no contest to driving under the influence. Odom, 34, was also ordered to participate in an alcohol treatment program for three months and pay $1,814 in penalties and fines, KCAL-TV, Los Angeles, reported. The 14-year NBA veteran was arrested Aug. 30 after he allegedly drove his Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle at about 50 miles per hour on the 101 Freeway in a "serpentine manner" and showed "objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as explained and demonstrated," California Highway Patrol reports indicate. Odom's wife, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, kicked him out of their house in August, celebrity website TMZ reported in September.

Connick Jr. says he really likes his 'Idol' co-stars

Actor and musician Harry Connick Jr. says he and his fellow "American Idol" judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban are getting along very well. Connick Jr. joined the panel for the singing competition show's upcoming 13th season. Judges Urban and Randy Jackson were famously caught between feuding divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj last season, and Urban was the only Season 12 judge to return for this season. But newcomer Connick Jr. told E! News there is not a hint of tension on the show's Los Angeles set this season. "It's three people who are having a friggin' ball," Connick Jr. said. "The show is really goofy, it's really serious and it's real fun. It's really heartfelt. It's everything you want 'Idol' to be," he told E! News. "It's the easiest gig in the world. It really is. Look at what we do. We go and we get hair and makeup done, wear nice clothes and go sit and listen to singers and tell them what we think. Let's get real here." Connick Jr., who appeared twice on "Idol" as a mentor, called his move into a judge's chair "seamless." "I really like them," he said of Lopez and Urban. "We'll finish shooting and we'll go have lunch and we all sit at the same table, talking about Jen's kids, my kids and Keith's kids."

Young men who allegedly stole part of Paul Walker's car face felony

Two men who allegedly scavenged part of the Porsche in which actor Paul Walker died could get four-year terms if convicted, Los Angeles prosecutors said Monday. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said Jameson Witty, 18, and Anthony Janow, 25, will be charged with one count of grand theft, the Los Angeles Times reported. They also face misdemeanor charges of destroying evidence and hindering police officers. Walker, 40, known mostly for his work in the "Fast and Furious" movies, was killed Nov. 30 when the friend who was driving and also died in the crash lost control of the Porsche Carrera GT. Witty and Janow allegedly grabbed a roof panel from a tow truck.
A photo on Instagram apparently posted by Witty shows the roof panel. Another post apologizes, saying he was not planning to sell the panel but wanted it because Walker was a "childhood idol."

ABC to keep airing Peanuts specials through 2020

U.S. television network ABC says it has extended its contract to keep airing the iconic "Peanuts" animated specials until 2020. ABC has been home to the beloved programs, including "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" -- since 2001. The TV specials were created by the late comic-strip writer-artist Charles M. Schulz. The shows were produced and animated by Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez. "We are thrilled that our 13-year association with ABC will now extend to 20 years. The network has shown us tremendous support from the start, including restoring the original length to our holiday shows. Charlie Brown and Snoopy are dancing today," Mendelson said in a statement Monday.

Garth Brooks announces world tour on 'GMA'

U.S. country music star Garth Brooks announced on "Good Morning America" Monday his plans to kick off a global concert tour next year. "You know what, since it's you and since we've had a history forever, let's announce it. We're going on a world tour in 2014," Brooks told "GMA" anchor Robin Roberts. "I can't believe I just did that but you are a doll," said Brooks, who is married to singer Trisha Yearwood. "It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring. All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So, now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood." Brooks announced his retirement from recording and performing in 2000, but recently completed a successful residency at the Wynn Las Vegas resort. He told Roberts he decided to start touring again because his youngest child is now a senior in high school and his family needs him less. "My children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there. ... I'm a phone call dad now. 'Hey Dad, I love you. Can I borrow some money?'" he joked. Brooks, 52, appeared on "GMA" Monday to promote his new album, "Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences."
