She may not be the new American Idol, but things haven't ended too badly for Pia Toscano. She just landed a record deal.
The ninth-place Idol finalist has signed to Interscope Records, and will release hew debut single, "This Time," on July 12. She's also slotted to perform the song as part of the summer's American Idol Love! Tour, which begins July 6 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pia, who has been dating Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas, is expected to release the album by the end of the year.
After news of her record deal broke, Pia shared her enthusiasm.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family," Pia said in a statement. "[Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol ... This is a dream come true."

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott Is Engaged...
Lady Antebellum's current hit "Just A Kiss" was inspired by the budding relationship between singer Hillary Scott and drummer Chris Tyrell, after the pair met on the Tim McGraw tour in early 2010.
As Hillary, 25, revealed, "There is so much excitement at the beginning of a new relationship ... This song is about one of those times when your brain kicks in and tells your heart, 'Good things are worth waiting for.' "
The wait ended over Fourth of July weekend, when Chris, 24, proposed to Hillary as the sun was setting over a lake in East Tennessee.
"Chris proposed exactly the way I've always dreamed," Hillary shares. "Our families were close by, but it was just us out on a beautiful deck overlooking a lake in East Tennessee. We had just been on a hike and, in our workout clothes, he hit the knee! We feel so blessed by God that He sent us each other, and we are looking so forward to forever together!�
A date has not yet been set for the wedding, and no word on whether or not Tim McGraw can expect an invitation. Lady A, which includes bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, is headlining their own summer tour. They will release a new album, Own the Night on September 13, while Chris is keeping the beat for Eden�s Edge on Brad Paisley�s H20 II tour.
Man arrested outside Paris Hilton's home...
A man who was previously arrested outside Paris Hilton's Hollywood Hills home has been busted by cops again after he was allegedly caught close to her property in Malibu.
James Rainford was detained by L.A. County Sheriff's deputies on Monday after they allegedly found him sitting on the beach, looking into her house. He was arrested on suspicion of breaching a restraining order that bans him from going within 200 yards of the hotel heiress. Paris was photographed watching the drama unfold from a balcony.
An onlooker says, "He was hanging around on the beach while Paris was inside. Someone recognized him as being the man who had given her trouble in the past and the cops arrived pretty quickly. They checked him out and led him away, he was handcuffed and put into the police car."
James was previously arrested in October for trespassing outside her L.A. home and fighting with her security staff, and this year, he was sentenced to jail for attacking her former boyfriend Cy Waits outside a courthouse in April.
He was recently released after reportedly serving 24 days of his 227-day sentence.
James is being held on $20,000 bail.

Kiefer Sutherland is single again after splitting from his long-term girlfriend.
The twice-divorced "24" actor has been dating Allure magazine style director Siobhan Bonnouvrier since 2008, but the romance has now come to an end.
Kiefer has since been linked to another woman, New Yorker Eleanor Propp, but she is adamant there is no romance, telling, "I am not dating Kiefer. We are just friends."
He was previously married to Camelia Kath, the mother of his daughter Sarah, and Elizabeth Winn, while he was also engaged to Julia Roberts, who dumped him just three days before their planned wedding in 1991.
Judge refuses Willie Nelson plea deal...
A judge has refused to approve a plea deal reducing Willie Nelson's drug charges following a marijuana bust last year.
The country icon was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession in November after a Border Patrol agent in Texas smelled pot smoke during a search of Willie's tour bus.
Willie reportedly struck a deal with prosecutors allowing him to plead no contest to a reduced charge of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, which he did last month, and pay a $500 fine and $280 in court costs.
However, on Friday, County Judge Becky Dean-Walker admitted she had signed the plea deal then changed her mind and scratched her name out because she feels Willie deserves a tougher penalty.
Dean-Walker explains, "I'm not going to be guilty of signing something because someone is a celebrity... Everybody should be treated the same in my court."
The judge claims any other person would receive a more severe punishment. The case, which has been handed back to County Attorney C.R. Bramblett, remains pending.

According to witnesses, Weston's new wife Nikki Williams went absolutely ballistic, and cut Weston's son with a broken bottle before punching him and then threatening to jump off a balcony. Apparently, Weston was also violent himself.
