Kelly Clarkson covers Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me'

Kelly Clarkson gave a powerful rendition of British singer Sam Smith's hit single "Stay With Me" while performing at a free concert at Charlotte, N.C.'s Symphony Park on Sunday. The 32-year-old singer introduced the song to the crowd by stating her next track was "bluesy and it's awesome" and later joked that she loved to sing songs with the word "stay" in them. "Well, I love this song. I know you've probably heard it a bunch, but just bear with me," she continued. "I love it. This is called 'Stay With Me.'" Clarkson's performance at the Microsoft-sponsored event was her first solo gig since giving birth to her first daughter in June.



Most Fascinating People of 2014 special to air Dec. 14

Oprah Winfrey, Neil Patrick Harris, Chelsea Handler and Scarlett Johansson have made Barbara Walters' list of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014, ABC announced. Additional names for the roster will be disclosed shortly, the television network said. The year's No. 1 most fascinating person will be revealed on a 2 hour ABC News special, which is to air Dec. 14. "I was absolutely delighted when ABC approached me to do another year of 10 Most Fascinating People," Walters said in a statement. "I know we said last year was our last, but there are just too many fascinating people out there... and you never pass up the opportunity to interview Oprah, Neil, Chelsea or Scarlett." Walters, 85, retired from co-hosting the daytime talk show The View earlier this year.


'Breaking Bad' toys pulled by Toys 'R Us

Toys 'R Us said Tuesday that the company had pulled Breaking Bad action figures from its stores. "Let's just say, the action figures have taken an indefinite sabbatical," the toy retailer said in a statement. Florida Mom Susan Schrivjer previously started a Change.org petition calling on Toys 'R Us to pull the action figures, which came complete with tiny toy meth bags. Toys 'R Us defended the toys at first, claiming they were only on shelves in the adult action figure section of the store.

Renee Zellweger responds to criticism of her new look

Renee Zellweger doesn't care that you don't recognize her.
The 45-year-old actress gave a lengthy statement to People on Tuesday, one day after her appearance at a red-carpet event spurred criticism that she'd undergone too much public surgery. "I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," Zellweger told the mag. "It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door," she said of speculation that she'd gone under the knife. Zellweger also said that fans recognize her only as a young actress, but not a woman in her 40s. "Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy," she said. Zellweger hasn't starred in a film since 2010, though she's due to return to the big screen with next year's The Whole Truth.


'2 Broke Girls' star Beth Behrs introduced Kat Dennings to Josh Groban

2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings met boyfriend Josh Groban through co-star Beth Behrs. The 28-year-old actress related the story Tuesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Dennings told DeGeneres she first saw Groban's "witty" tweets, and flirted with the 33-year-old singer on Twitter before they met through Behrs. "She's always talked about how great he is and they've been friends for years, and she thought we were both, you know, nerds," Dennings said. "So there, she was right."
Dennings and Groban made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Carousel of Hope Ball on October 11. The pair were openly affectionate at the event, and Groban referred to the actress as his girlfriend in interviews. Dennings and Behrs will return as Max Black and Caroline Channing for season four of 2 Broke Girls on October 27. The Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City) CBS series follows the characters as they open a cupcake business. Kim Kardashian will guest star as herself on the season four premiere.

Kerry Washington appears sans makeup on the November cover of Allure.
The 37-year-old Scandal star detailed her beauty routine inside the issue and in a behind-the-scenes video from the photo shoot. Washington is known for her carefully put-together looks as Olivia Pope, but told the magazine she takes a more relaxed approach in real life. "I try not to be too high maintenance when it comes to beauty routines," she related. "But I've had eczema my whole life, so I've always gone to a dermatologist." "A little concealer is always great for spots," she said of her makeup must-haves. "I have to have lots of different colors, because as a person of color, your skin tone, even when it's really even, changes on different parts of your face. And at different times of the year, I need different colors. And then also mascara." Washington found inspiration for the photo shoot in old Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe, and also counts her mother, Valerie Washington, among her beauty icons. "My mother is a huge beauty inspiration for me," she shared. "Partly because she's always really emphasized the idea of inner beauty being equally, if not more, important than outer beauty."
